M Softball - Grace Chelemen transfer info?
Anybody know what happened with Grace Chelemen and why she left the Michigan softball program for Marshall? She played in 36 games last year, mostly as a pinch-runner. She made some interesting comments about Marshall "having the same core values she does" and "believing in her". You usually don't see players leave our program.
And while I'm at it...how about Kysre Gondrezick a couple of years ago with the women's hoops team? She's tearing it up at WVU and was a very good player for us here.

Complete speculation, but "Believing in her" could be code for playing time.....

Gondrezick preferred the beaches of West Virginia.

Most likely because transfers in softball are immediately eligible. Playing time is attractive.

Hutch can be real tough but I don't question the winningest coach in softball.

Unlike the big sports softball is not afforded a ton of scholarships. Most girls on the team are on partials and some get nothing at all. Chances are if you are a pinch runner or a sub you fall in the latter category. The chance to go somewhere else where you could get a little more playing time and possibly some more assistance is I'm sure alluring.

If Chelemen wanted to play she had to leave. It's really no loss for the team and I wish her well. As for Gondrezick, she was talented but she was suspended when she was here during the WNIT tournament and has been suspended at least twice at UWV. Enough said.
