Lou Holtz

Submitted by ThePrivileger on
They just had a segment on ESPN College Football Live on UofM and Lou just tried to segway to a commercial by saying "yeah, but you have to remember, Hitler was a great leader too."  Holy shit, tell me someone else saw that or recorded it.  The moment of silence afterwards was priceless.  So was the look on Mark May's face.

I recorded it, here is his exact words

" Let's remember this, Hitler was a good leader too. There are good leaders and there are bad leaders"

The look on Mark Mays face is just unbelievable he can't believe what Lou has just said.

To compare RR to Hitler? Lou Holtz was laughable up until this point, but he needs to go. Why couldn't he compare him to somebody who didn't kill and start a WW.

I'm sure video of it will be up soon enough. WOW!!

Yeah someone post a link to the video if you find it.  We all knew Lou Holtz was getting a little crazy in his old age, but he not only crossed the line with that one but he flew by it in an F-22 fighter jet at full throttle and gave it the finger as he went by.

Jesus, what an old coot.  Someone should force him to read "Under the Tarnished Dome".  Also, you spelled his name wrong.  It's Holth.  That's how it's pronoucthed.

Isn't there a theory that eventually, no matter the topic, that someone on an internet message board will eventually call someone else a "nazi" or compare them to "hitler"?  Maybe Lou is way more up to date with the internets then we would ever imagine?

over at a Spartan board I happened upon when I googled "Lou Holtz Nazi" hoping for a Youtube clip, at least 75% of the comments start with "I mean, Hitler was a good leader, but..."

I beg to differ with the labeling of Hitler a "good leader"--this is particularly annoying meme that has emerged from some unexamined equivocation between power and leadership.  At the time of his disgraced suicide he had "led" Germany into a war that destroyed its infrastructure and citizenship, the consequence of which was a 50-year partition from which it still has not entirely recovered.  By what metric was he a "great leader"?

I'll concede that he was good at achieving and consolidating power in the early 30s, but at MgoBlog we operate a results-based charting service.  By that measure, he could not have destroyed Germany more thoroughly.  Epic fail.

but with that stupid comment aside, Lou Holth is still wrong. He basically said we have bad leaders. No Lou, the problem is that our team is basically made up of freshmen and sophomores (our starters at least) so i'd argue it's not that we have bad leaders, we just don't HAVE leaders. or leaders with much experience at least.
