Lets Talk Super Bowl, BBQ, Adult Beverages, and What is Going Well in Your Life

Submitted by xtramelanin on January 24th, 2020 at 9:14 PM

Mates,

We have had some 'great' bball and thread posts (Livers out...I believe in corporal punishment for this OP).  However, there are way more fun things to focus on.

First, lets talk Super Bowl.  The Chiefs are favored by 1.5 points, game is in Miami.  The Chiefs were 12-4 with 3 of their losses coming at home.  The Niners would probably be considered the surprise team of the year with a 13-3 record.  Who do you have?

And since we've had doom and (basketball) gloom this week, share with what is going well in your life - job, love life, kids, health, whatever. What's on tap for tomorrow?  We will be mucking out the hen house and I think we'll do that instead of watch the Michigan B-ball game since I'm guessing both might smell very similar.

And yeah, its Friday night, so what is in your cup?   I might have a little red pop in a coffee cup. Maybe.

I hope you have a great weekend,

XM

Rooting for Chiefs, but I’d bet SF.

Kids and family are fantastic. Doing movie night now and really appreciate the age now (6 year old and twin 4 year olds).

Drinking kombucha. Don’t judge. Actually, go ahead and judge. Won’t bother me.

1. SB - While KC has the high powered offense, I would be surprised if SF lost.  Just seem too balanced on both sides of the ball.  Defense usually wins out so... 31-24 SF is my prediction.

2. Been a shitty week.  Entire fam including myself has been sick.  Work was shitty.  Shitty day.  Then my 7 year old daughter inadvertently scared the shit out of me as I went to check on her 4 year old brother.  But then I laid down with her for a minute and she touched my face, gave me a big kiss on the cheek and told me she loved my beard.  Despite it being almost 9:30 - it saved the day.  Love on your kids and savor every moment cause damn it goes so fast.

3. Drinking?  Despite not feeling 100% I am committed to having a few beers tonight.  Had a Dragon's Milk White earlier in the night and will switch over to Gulo Gulo from Wolverine or perhaps some Hopslam.

Hope you're well XM.  We've never directly interacted on here despite posting on numerous threads together but you are one of the good ones so many props to you this Friday good sir.

Godspeed and Go Blue. Always.

i think your super bowl prediction is accurate.  i am rooting for the niners if only because my brother is a fan/ticket holder and he has a number of niner friends.

sorry about the crummy week.  they happen.  you do however have the tonic that nobody can put a price on: kiss from daughter.  as much as i am grateful for all of our sons, there is nothing on planet earth like the sweet hug and peck on the cheek from dear daughters.

and fwiw, i am bbq'ing in the sleet.  a pork loin that i wrapped in bacon.  no, we did not raise this pig, but i am hopeful that its up to the task...

I heard George Thorogood’s song, “One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer,” last night, possibly for the first time. (Who knows, I’m old, maybe I heard it as a kid.) It’s a really good song and gave me a good idea, or three.

So, XM... you're a trolling yooper?

And as for where the TY is located, I know for certain he's somewhere well north of the 43 1/2 parallel, "Where the North Begins and Pure Waters Flow".

Can anyone identify the town that has long used the above slogan?  100 imaginary MGoPoints to the winner.

Half-credit only.  Googling is like taking college courses online---sure, you may have come up with the correct answer, but show me the work.

Yes, it's White Cloud.  As one drives north on M-37, there's always been the welcome sign with their slogan as you enter town.  That's the route north we always took waaayy back to my childhood, until US-131 was extended decades ago.

1. Haven't paid much attention to the NFL for a few years, but I have always hated the 49ers & they play an hour away from San Francisco in Taxpayer-funded stadium... so go Chefs!

2. Two huge margaritas + a shot of pineapple tequila already.

3. Going well?  Ummm... I'm still breathing, I think.  Most of the people I give a damn about are still alive.  Got some great outtakes from one of my favorite albums recently that nobody really has...  Other than that, life is basically unsolvable loneliness.

doc D, that last sentence is tough.  without getting too personal, there are ways to overcome that.  living in norcal might not be the easiest place to do that because its so spread out.  it does however have about every possible people group you could imagine.  i hope you make some connections.  there are lots of ways to do that.

There's a great story all over the news right now from down the road in Golden.  Some young lady wrote a message on the bathroom wall saying "is life worth it".

A lot of students responded by putting psot-it notes of love and encouragement on the wall around the what that student wrote.

I am rooting for and think it will be the Chiefs. I was impressed by their ability to shut down Tennessee's run. I think they load up and dare Jimmy G to beat them with his arm. On offense, the Chiefs will get there's too. SF pass rush is nasty, but Mahomes has plenty of ways to get the ball out quickly.

I'll say 34-24 KC. Henne and Clark get rings.

My life is great! I'm healthy and my whoore wife is hot. Not much more to ask for than that.

Super Bowl - I hope both teams play hard

What is going well?  Losing some weight.  On this keto diet.  This shit really works, but don’t believe anybody who tells you it gives you more energy and makes you feel good.  In a word, it is pretty gross.

Drinking.  Nothing, because you can’t drink a damn thing on keto.

BBQ.  Can’t have BBQ on keto.

Fuck this I’m going to bed.

Just got back from a rehearsal at Hill Aud. — late snack with the last of some box wine(=red pop?). Have to miss tomorrow’s game for dress rehearsal (Sibelius in Swedish at fffffortisimo). I’ll pick the Chiefs even though I love the Bay Area in principal (not a millionaire).

Typically start with lawnmower beer, ice cold. Then a vodka, cran, 7up.  Currently on the VC7.

Building another shop/garage.  I enjoy construction.  2 tractors and tons of tools.  What could be better.

Re: hoops.  We all knew we were going to take a step back this year losing 3 starters.  I’m just sitting back watching and contemplating how great next year will be.

Re: football.  Happy to see we aren’t supposed to do much next year according to some ‘experts’.  It means we will do better than this past year when we were supposed to set the world on fire.   It just seems to work that way with us.

On a scale of 1-10.  My life is a 10 right now.  Not that anything is going great but I just always think about how bad life could really be.  I’m blessed.

Hey X

My Kubota has a box blade so mainly for blading off a high spot to low spot for leveling.  Has scarifiers so it helps to pull smaller rocks out.  But I ran in to big big boulders.  3-4’ boulders cuz I took hill top down about 18-24”. So I ended up buying a John Deere 410 backhoe. Would not have been able to level without both tractors.

Fun stuff but you have to pay attention too, obviously.

MX5800.
I bought a used 410j. 05(?). I can’t even remember now.  But it has everything I need. Xhoe 4x 4in1. It has way more bells and whistles than I need.

edit...  so hoping for KC win.  Tired of seeing all the 49er jerseys.

We’re celebrating Lunar New Year’s Eve. It’s the one time all year I feel comfortable wearing red. 2020 is the year of the rat. Y’all been warned.

Well my 5 year old just barfed all over the kitchen floor...other than that doing a lot of renovations which includes a new salt water hot tub so that’s cool. Actually it’s awesome!

Super Bowl should be a good game. I’m going with the Chiefs.

Evan Williams Bourbon in my glass with a sugar cookie on the side.

49ers by a field goal.

Mahomes is a magician, but KC is so one-dimensional, I just feel like San Fran's defensive line will have a field day teeing off on every snap. And I like Shanahan to prevail in a high-stakes battle of wits with Andy Reid.

Not much food going on in my life, though I did manage to survive a 2-hour wait at the DMV today to renew my license. Even sprung for the Enhanced ID so I can make a run for the border come November 4th.

Just finished my second Spotted Cow and realized it's better for day drinking. Need a higher ABV for Friday nights.

Hope all is well with everyone. Days are getting longer, so at least we've got that going for us, which is nice.
