It's a premium article from Sam Webb, but let's just say Greg Harden played a huge part in Gary deciding to stick with Michigan. Harbaugh and Partridge deserve the praise, but Harden has been someone that we forget about even though he does an amazing job with the student athletes.

He's an awesome man, I've met and worked with him a number of times...there's a reason he's been around the program for so long. He's awesome at what he does and a HUGE asset to the University of Michigan.

He's in a role that I always wanted to see Fred Jackson assist with when he retired.

Harden is a huge key for many recruits. Gary's mom mentioned very prominantly how important Harden and his wife were to both her and Rashan. There is a strong support component here, and academics is only a small part. Harden and his wife provide a spiritual component that is very, very important to many of the players, even if this gets absolutely no press coverage.

the other pre-commit Gary threads together after the LOI, was a real eye-opener. we say jokingly about how 'no one can decipher the mind of 17 yr olds' but it seems they actually run a pretty grim gauntlet weighing competing pressures from moneyed interests while trying to keep their own counsel and that's much more mature where credit is due.
