Lebanon FIBA Asia Cup (M commit Yousef Khayat update)
Lebanon is playing in the FIBA Asia cup and thought the board would be interested in how M commit Yo Yo is doing.
They just finished the first round (group stage) and advanced to the quarterfinals (knock out stage) by finishing first in their group with a 3-0 record.
Game 1: Lebanon beat the Philippines 90-85. YoYo 15 min, 7 pts, 2/4 fg, 0/1 from 3, 3/3 FT, 2 reb
Game 2: Lebanon beat New Zealand 86-72 (HUGE win). YoYo 17 min, 7 pts, 3/7 fg, 1/2 from 3, 5 reb, 3 stl, 1 blk, 1TO
Game 3: Lebanon beat India 104-63. YoYo 26 min, 15 pts, 6/11 fg, 2/5 from 3, 1/2 FT, 2 reb, 3 ast, 3 stl, 2 blk, 0TO
Overall playing well, earning his minutes, good motor, aggressive, timely defensive plays and buckets. Seems coachable and very excited to see what he does at M.
Next game is Wednesday against China at either 6:30 or 9am EDT on ESPN+
Go Cedars!
Ch-chickity-check Yousef before you wreck yo-self!
Yes, that is all I have to add to this thread.
Curious about context. Is this a developing young man playing with a bunch of adults?
Seconded.
Yes. He's the only player on the roster who is not at least 23, and he's 19.
Good update. I assume like many I didn't even know this was happening. Thank you, TX!
Got to know Soony Saad (Dearborn/2010 Men's Soccer) a bit while working on a Middle Eastern soccer project. He actually had a pretty terrific qualifying campaign for the Cedars, who surpassed expectations and were several inopportune moments away from advancing towards the IFC playoffs. Scored at Iran; scored twice in South Korea, where he'd previously played. Keeps in close touch with Justin Meram (Shelby Twp), still bangin' away in MLS and for Iraq.
He shot 50% (10 for 20) from the field for the 3 games. Not too shabby.
TIL that India has a national basketball team. I guess in a country of 1.4 billion people, they oughta have a dozen or so who can hoop....
NARRATOR: "In fact, they don't."
he got that dawg in him
