Kalon Gervin to ND

One of Michigan's best in the 2018 class is off the board.....for the time being.

If we have our CBs prioritized on talent alone he would be somewhere in the middle. We are going to take our shot at some of the big dogs like Isaac Taylor-Stuart, Olaijah Griffin (son of Warren G), Al Blades Jr, Brendan Radley-Hines, and Houston Grifftith. Gervin is probably next talent-wise, but he may get a bump in priority as the best player at Cass Tech this year. We've seen that Jim doesn't recruit kids from Michigan if they're not the best talent available to us & just because they're from Michigan, but I think he also realizes the importance of our pipeline at CT.

Except for maybe one thing, file this under WTF.

  • Michigan has out-recruited ND lately.
  • Michigan has out-performed ND lately.
  • Harbaugh >>> Kelly
  • Gervin is an in-state player.
  • Cass Tech has been good to UMich lately.

That one thing: Some people (possibly including Gervin and his parents) are *really* enamored of private schools.

I guess I can see where playing time would be an issue, too.

though that's hyperbole, according to those close to him, he's very aware of the player's Michigan's brought in at corner in the two classes ahead of him, and he's been leaning elsewhere for a while.

Not sure ND is a great pick for him, unless he just really likes the school, as Kelly might have a difficult time keeping his job barring a big turnaround from last season's disaster.

I don't see the appeal of going to ND. Besides the education. You can that where they actually play good football, and don't have a screaming lunatic for a coach. Can't see them being any better this year. Good luck to the young man though.

Does anyone know if we are looking at him?  Local kid, all state 1st team and dream team last year as a junior, from a school who has sent some good players our way over the years, also some big misses..(Dion Sims, Allen Robinson, and the kid that blocked "the punt")   Ross bros. x2, Dave Bowens, Morgan Trent, & Grant Mason etc.
