Jordan Morgan Still Ballin'; Several Former Players Sign to Play Overseas

Via the Michigan Men’s Basketball Twitter, several former players have signed to play overseas in the last few weeks:

- Jordan Morgan signed with Konyaspor in Turkey. He’s 30 now (!) and played last season in Italy. He’s played in seemingly every country over there since leaving U-M, including Greece, Russia and Slovenia. Glad to see he’s still making money at this.

- Mike Smith signed with Astoria in Poland. He spent most of last season with the Sioux Falls Skyforce.

- Ignas Brazdeikis signed with Zalgiris Kaunas in Lithuania, where he was born. He played with the Orlando Magic last season.

- DeVante’ Jones signed with Metropolitans 92 in Paris.

- Muhammad-Ali Abdur-Rahkman signed with Victoria Libertas Pesaro in Paris. MAAR played in Poland last season.

As previously reported, Derrick Walton Jr. signed to play with the Sydney Kings in Australia.

Heck. If I'd realized basketball could lead to playing in Paris or Sydney or other cool spots, I'd have continued my playing career after high school.

(When I asked my HS coach if I could miss a game for a student government thing, he laughed. He tried to pretend it was because the idea of me not being there didn't matter at all but I could tell that, deep down, he was laughing to hide his tears.)

Thank you for this. What was your criteria of who to note? I'm assuming there are more guys who aren't noted here?

EDIT: Nik Stauskas is in the G-League, Zak Irvin is in Taiwan...

Great to hear.  Time seems to be flying.   Seems like Jordan was here about 6 years ago.  Thanks for terrific update.  Wish all these guys the best.

I still remember Barack Obama at the IM Building giving Jordan Morgan major props for his play in a big UM win... President Obama then lavished praise on Zingerman's for their high wages. Strong speech!

Good to see all these great players playing ball overseas, making money at the game they love! MAAR and Derrick Walton Jr are among my all-time faves in maize & blue...

Then it's gonna be ass I'm haulin'

'Cause yo momma's so fine I'm all in.

Dammit. I really wanted to go out tonight and have a few beers and shoot some pool and see some live jazz. But COVID has me stuck at home again. So here I am, creating shitty rap lyrics.
