Sam Webb article on Jae'Sean Tate:

"The 6-5, 210-pounder has been on the maize and blue's radar for quite some time thanks to his standout performance at the Wolverines' summer camp in 2011. During the subsequent high school season he teamed with Levert to lead Pickerington Central to its first state championship, and his stock has been on the rise ever since."

"I got to Ann Arbor and we met up in front of the arena," Tate recalled. "They took me in and I met with all the coaches, they showed me around the locker room, and then we went to the brand new building (William Davidson Player Development Center). Man, they've got some crazy weight room stuff I've never seen in my life! They've got by far, out of all the visits I've been on, the best facilities."

It is amazing that our program has gone from having some of the worst BBall facilities in the B1G to having some of the best in just a few years. When the work on Crisler is completed, we should be have the resources to be in contention for any top player in the country. Beilein and Brandon have done a great job to get this program relevant again.

I like Beilein's methodical method of recruiting. He's not just throwing a bunch of offers out there, like some coaches do, with some of the offers not really "commitable" and with some of the players having only slight interest in Michigan. Everyone he offers has been on campus and has genuine interest in Michigan, and so Michigan has a good shot at landing each one.

And it's even more impressive when you consider that all four 2014 players he's offered are in ESPN's top 50:

  • 21. Devin Booker
  • 30. Keita Bates-Diop
  • 46. Jae'Sean Tate
  • 50. Trevon Bluiett

"I never really, to be honest, cared about the Ohio State-Michigan thing," he said. "I'm definitely not an Ohio State football fan. I'm with Denard Robinson all the way on that. I love Michigan football."

Maybe Hoke can get him some reps at WR too!

"I put it everywhere — shoulders chest, stomach, thighs — everywhere," he said. "It just gets me loose. I can't play good without it — not if I don't have my Icy Hot and my Mountain Dew. I gotta have that Icy Hot. My coaches just try to buy me the non-scented one so it won't be so strong (laughter)."

What in the...?

BBall is exciting, alive and well in A2! Bball was my passion growing up...watching the Fab5 got me hooked on Michigan athletics...and I am glad to see the program on the rise again.
