Izzo and Gabe Brown at halftime

I was lucky and only got to watch the last 5 minutes of regulation and then the OT.   The game thread here refers to Izzo bullying Gabe Brown at halftime.  What happened?

Actually you have it backwards.  They were in a switch defense and,”Hall totally blew his assignment!”  Thus, the I didn’t mess up IZZO yelling tirade commenced!  Hall switched then Gabe switched!  It was NOT his fault!  And this is why he told little Timmy, where to shove it.  Then he reiterated it and said,”if it won’t fit I’ll shove it in your leprechaun receptacle!”

Look, I'm fine with players and coaches getting into it verbally, but Izzo putting his hands on players is too far and shouldn't be acceptable. People like to say "he does that all the time" or "that's just good coaching," but no it isn't. There is never a time where physically pulling or grabbing a player is okay. Izzo gets away with so much verbal and now physical abuse of his players and the refs and I don't know how he gets away with it

I certainly do not have the skills to put one together, however, a video compilation of Izzo's greatest meltdowns would certainly be a glorious thing to watch!

Played basketball on a good team in Indiana in the early 90s. Our coach thought he was Bobby Knight and man we got screamed at. If we made a mistake in the game we were benched.

In one game, he had a rule to have five passes before a shot. I was out there to shoot threes and on the fifth pass I was wide open. I took the shot, made it, and my ass was on the bench for the rest of the half.

My senior year we got beat with tons of talent in the sectionals.  A week later my coach asked me advice  I said just let us play and coach us but we’re all scared to make a mistake.

They won the state championship the next year.  Moral of the story, kids respond much better to really good coaching, knowing their role, and encouragement than constant yelling and fear.  I ended up hating basketball for a while and not playing in college because of it.

Juwan is the proof of my sentiments. Izzo is a knowledgeable coach and he’s a complete dick.
