It's here! The annual "Detroit News talks to the top 15 FB players in MI and gets quotes about their recruiting experience which are almost all anodyne but the few that aren't are so worth it" BONUS: now just 6.7% sparty"

You'll have to read pretty far down to find a, er, the Spartan (SPOILER alert: a legacy), but always so worth it.

From the first sentence (Justin Rogers: Kentucky Best experience: When I took my official visit to Alabama) to the last several Chips, who have to explain that they didn't go to UM or MSU because they never got offered, this is an annual must-read.

Thank you.  I want to thank the Forum Academy, who inspired all my work.  From the recent Josh Christopher post, back through the Mike Hart one, all the way past the Justin Fields post (but not the Star Wars one) to the Alabama turn-pros post title that started this all, I think we can safely say we're seeing the ghost of Justin Feagin out.

Not too much butt hurt this year. It sounds like everyone was treated right by Michigan and the kids ended up going somewhere that made sense.

Quote of the article from Cornell Wheeler

Why not Michigan State? I was never interested in Michigan State because how they do things there is different...

I'll just bet they do...

Staee fans always whine about how we look down at them... well here are kids, who mostly otherwise don't have an ax to grind, saying the following:

Favorite thing about Michigan: The education and the people.

Why not Michigan State? Michigan State was never really a consideration for me.

Why not Michigan State? They offered late and they came in near the end of my recruiting, and at that point they didn’t have anything that stood out.

I’ve never been a Michigan State guy. Michigan is just different.

I was never interested in Michigan State because how they do things there is different, [...] I just felt like what I want to do in life didn’t match MSU.

I liked a lot of people on the Michigan State staff, but I had a better academic opportunity at Northwestern

Michigan State offered, but I never really liked it as much as I did other schools.

Doh!

Justin Rogers just screams "flame out!!!!" to me.

EDIT: I say that in part because of his Alabama comments, but then I scroll down and see that Makari Page (#2) said his favorite moment was visiting Penn State, so shut my mouth.

This year's Bitter Betty quote goes to Abdur-Rahmaan Yaseen:

Why not Michigan? They didn’t offer me. I’m not really interested in walking on to a school just because they have a winged stripe helmet.

Whoa, this felt like a weird thing for a coach to say, but I guess it worked:

The day that my father passed I was at Kentucky, at the game when they played Georgia, and I didn’t know he passed until I got back, and Coach (Vince Marrow) told me he felt like that was a sign and that really meant something to me, so I felt like it was a sign as well. Plus, I always wanted to play in the SEC.
