Holy Jeebus...

Where is everybody?  I thought I would see some posting here for sure at the half of this abortion of a game, but... nothing?  I need some talk, some banter, some hope dammit!  SOMEBODY TELL ME HOW WE CAN WIN THIS THING!

In my opinion we must insert Brown at QB in the second half.  Run Run Run!  If Threet couldn't beat out this noodle armed bandit, then let's not even try to pass much.  18 throws that mostly looked like punts in one half???!!!!  Not even 6 yards per completion?  4 YARDS RUSHING!!!!!!

I did like the interesting "nobody move" play but allowing Sheridan to throw that pick was inexcusable.  Now we kick off to them and get another drive of thinking what we would be if we just had THE OTHER TEAMS QUARTERBACK!  AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!

i'm reasonably happy with the game. the first half was just awful. i dont know where the  defense was but the second half was significantly better. the defense allowed ~50 yds i belive and threet looked competent even if he did do a few dumb things (see 5 yd dump off to shaw with 0:04 left). i think we should be..fine

I'm guessing that last play was a hook-and-ladder and Shaw forgot to pitch, but I'm not sure.  I also am coming away not all that upset.  I think we've found our QB and probably also our RB (Minor).  I hope the aggressive D we saw in the second half becomes our standard, and not the Carr-esque D of the first.

Net of Utah running 20 yards backwards on their last possession, we gave up something like 15 yards total in the 2nd half.  I think they had 326 at the half and 341 total.  The defense showed up 30 minutes too late, and as I received in a text from a friend, "When your best play is a Utah penalty, you can't expect a sustainted drive."

It was the first half of the first game.  I don't know what you expected but
I pretty much saw the offense I expected.  The o-line was horrible.  You can't run the ball without blocking, I don't care who the QB is.  Thank God you're not on the sidelines or we probably would have had our d-line playing both ways after the first series.

You will have to excuse my reaction to the first half as I had not seen a single positive aspect to our game at that point.  I still say allowing Sheridan to throw those horrible passes downfield for the entire half (not to mention the predictable pick) was not a good gameplan.

Of course it would be bad for me to be on the sideline.  The same goes for you I would imagine.

And, Lord Foul - I'm not sure how you missed it, but if you want someone to talk to during games, Brian ran a live-chat on this very site. It had more than 100 people talking about the game.

I was a few sheets to the wind when I posted this at halftime and needless to say a bit emotional as well.  I saw the live chat but I am on a tiny island in the Caribbean with extremely slow internet and could not effectively participate.

Michigan played liked you might expect if you knew their probable strengths and weaknesses going in. 8-4 is clearly a bit of a reach at this point, but I think a lot of people failed to realize that those predictions weren't going to mean 8 easy wins and 4 narrow losses.

their problem essentially is that they need to be where Utah was at in the first half (quick, accurate short passes) if they want to open things up enough to run the ball consistently. they're not, but its not because they don't have the players. their players just need some experience. I think they'll slowly build to a competent offense. I thought the defense was impressive in the second half.

I don't know what other Michigan fans thought, but I think they're going to build towards Threet being the starter. Sheridan's mobility isn't enough to outweigh his shortcomings as a passer. Threet can make all the throws, he just doesn't seem to be thinking fast enough to make it all work at the moment.

also, there was a decided lack of flipping over defenders on Sam McGuffie's TD run. WTF? ;)

It appeared that the idea was to send a package of WRs down field on the right side and have Shaw drag under the coverage and follow the 3 or 4 WRs on the right side.  If the QB can't reach the endzone, the best bet is some form of trickery.  The H&L would not have worked given the three safeties lined up around the 10 yard line.
