Hockey beats Ferris State 2-1 on the road in JLF's first start

Pretty big win for this young team.

Went into a sold out warehouse and beat Ferris State.

Took a total of 8 penalties in this game but still only allowed 1 goal.

Freshman Jack LaFontaine got the start in net and did not disappoint. He lived up to his hype tonight, stopping 28 of 29 shots with the lone FSU goal coming on one of their many PPs.

Freshman Jake Slaker scored his first career goal in the 2nd period on a PP. We had 5 power plays of our own and scored on two of them with Sam Piazza scoring in the 3rd period to take the lead late in the game.

Michigan now has a 70-30-7 edge in the rivalry with the Bulldogs.

#13 Michigan is now 2-1-0 on the season and will face quite a challenge at Yost next weekend when Mel Pearson's Tech team comes to Yost for a Friday-Saturday tilt.

Gotta say I'm pretty happy with the start to this season. In terms of results at least. Would have been nice to sweep Union but they're a borderline top 25 team, so that loss isn't a huuuuge deal

Through 3 games last season we allowed 11 goals. And that was against the likes of Mercyhurst and a Union team with a losing record.

Just 4 in 3 games in 2016-17.

Sam Piazza. I've had the opinion that he's the best D on the team ever since he stepped in during the GLI and we killed it.

Now I think he's the best player on the team. He's got 3 goals in 3 games.

So many penalties, though. I'm kinda glad there wasn't TV/video, because I probably would have been even more pissed.

Seems like it's going to be a nail-biter of a season, if we're going to be in lots of low-scoring, tight games.
