History of the GO BLUE banner

Watching the WolverineHistorian clip from 1982 made me wonder how long we've had the tradition of the players running under and touching the "GO BLUE: M CLUB SUPPORTS YOU" banner. I had assumed it was one of Canham's innovations, but upon googling it, found it actually predates him by a few years.
