Game Threads Turning into RCMB

Submitted by MGoDC on

Definitely a disappointing game, but games like this sometimes happen. They can't miss a 3 and we cant buy one. Beilein is a great coach, and our players have been stepping up all year. Nobody thought we'd be tied for first in the Big Ten after Mitch went down. Sometimes, you just have to try to get better and make the best out of a game like this.

Instead, we have embarassing posters all over the game thread calling specific players awful, embarassing, sucking shit -- one guy said Michigan should just get off the court about 3 minutes into it. When did this board turn into RCMB? I sort've understand the angst in football since we haven't been consistently good in years (one good year, not consistently good) but our basketball team won a Big Ten title in 2012 and went to the Championship Game last year. We have a bad first half during a regular season game and suddenly our kids are all shit and an embarassment to the University? How fucking spoiled is this board? Michigan Basketball has performed well above expectations for 3 straight years, stop acting like you are entitled to win every game played and if we don't that means the kids can go to hell.

A little bit of playful ignorance and people fly off the handle. I just tried to dampen the mood but clearly I have the wrong sense of humor for this board. Calm down. I know Stauskas doesn't suck. We have talent at all facets of the game. Lighten up, people. We're all here for the same reason.

So it's okay to bash posters but not ok to bash the players....I would love to be inept at my job and still get love

They signed on to play basketball for Michigan in exchange for free education, swag, and perks. That shit show yesterday wasn't basketball. We pay good money for tickets and apparel. We have the right to bitch when we suck I think. And we did suck yesterday. Now I still think we will finish 2nd in the B1G, which is really good considering what we lost last year, but yesterday was a low point. Tuesday's game is pivotal.

GR3 is the greatest! Those was for you people out there that are afraid to call a spade a spade or a club a club. Tell it how it is.

rebounding has been a sore spot all year with this team. The defensive effort today was atrocious, plain and simple. Iowa was getting easy looks every time down the floor, without too much effort. The fact that poor defense and rebounding have been recurring issues points to a lack of effort and focus on the defensive end. This team has good enough athletes, to at least be average on the  defensive end of the floor. Hopefully, this team gets it through their heads by the end of the year, that in order to be a legimate contender you need to put in a consistent effort in on both ends of the floor. Otherwise this team is going to be going home very early.

Also as far as calling out individual players, people do sometimes go too far, but there is nothing wrong with calling a spade a spade. Saying that GR III, for example, was awful today is calling a spade a spade. There is no reason to sugarcoat his performance or anybody else's performance for that matter (since he wasn't alone in that regard).

But people have a right to be upset about a poor effort like that, or like last Sunday (or like what we are likely to see in Columbus this week, for that matter).
People just need to class it up, and remember these are kids.

I've always enjoyed lurking this site, but the constant negativity is absolutely disgraceful, to the point where I've had to chime in.

I dare some of you to say those comments regarding the games to our players in their faces at some point.  Oh, and the comments saying X player played poorly isn't "bashing", but being objective is beyond laughable. I'll let Coach Beilein make that assessment, not some internet fanboy.
