Friday Night Lights: Chanticleers vs Huskies
Our most surprising 2021 opponent the NIU Huskies are taking on the fighting mullets, the Chanticleers. Up 24-19 at the half and it’s possible the Chanticleers should not have had the opportunity to score to end the half by not getting out of bounds in time.
At any rate two pretty good teams and some good football.
Let’s go.

To think we beat the dog shit outta of NIU.

In the old BCS model / we would be cheering our asses off for NIU to impress the computers. In 2021, I could not be more satisfied with the CFP model.

The mullet strikes with a great throwing td while getting completely walloped by a defensive player

The only “drive” without a score so far is the kneel down to end the half. First to get a stop wins.

I have this strange feeling that this game is being played at Exploria Stadium because the vacant lot behind Walgreen's was being used for overflow parking by the VFW Hall.

Wow what a run by Lombardi

Coastal has maybe the most consistently soft defense I've seen all year. Nowhere near as good as last year

This drive could break McCall and the Chanticleers. Body blows have piled up.

So espn and YTTV still haven’t reached a deal?
looks like I’m canceling tomorrow.

We legitimately could have scored 100 vs NIU. That was the day I thought we would probably be a safe 8 maybe even 9 win team. Then we followed with the Rutgers stinker.
What a year it has been. And still going

Listening to the 2nd half of the Rutgers game -- with Brandy's rather imprecise play by play -- while driving in 95-degree midday Idaho was a particularly anxiety-inducing experience
Never went back and watched the full version of that game, but happy it turned out to be a bizarre outlier

To think two months later we beat OSU’s ass 3x more than we did Rutgers…what a time to be alive

I hope Gattis steals that play

Love putting the QB in "motion" and snapping to the wildcat.
Can't wait to see who breaks out "The Annexation of Puerto Rico"

NIU stoned

That WR slide on the end around really came back to bite NIU.

Who is this announcer? I love that he's gotten fooled - badly - now twice!

Coastal took out his own guy who was still retuning the ball lol

Rocky not looking so hot right now

Pretty entertaining game.
Unfortunately, couldn't find a stream anywhere...

Got to go to the endzone

Game ended with some mild controversy. On 4th down in the red zone down with 7 seconds left, NIU threw an out and got the first down, though the receiver appears to have dropped it.
But was the receiver out of bounds?
He was marked in bounds. Clock stopped for first down but NIU couldn't get a snap off. I'm not sure they were ready but it looked like they couldn't snap it because the ref who set the ball was between the center and quarterback when the remaining 2 seconds ticked off.
Nothing was reviewed. I think he may have been out of bounds but incomplete so it wouldn't have mattered - turnover on downs - but the ending felt odd.
