Fred Jackson
Is Fred Jackson being considered for the Eastern Michigan job? I know Carr is aiding in the search for a new Head Coach, but that would really suck to lose Jackson. He has coached a lot of good, if not great, backs here at Michigan. Not to mention his recruiting, that would be a huge lose for Michigan.
Is he interested in being a head coach?
Has he coached anything other than RB's?

It's an interesting thought, but I'm not sure Fred J is looking to be a head coach at this point. My guess too is that he will want to stick around for when his son plays at Michigan

Fred has coached WR, RB, QB and been a coordinator, most recently in '96.

Where was he a coordinator (OC I assume)?

I don't see him going anywhere. Especialy w/ his son coming in and especially to Eastern.

Has wanted to be a HC for a long time. I think he'd take it, but God knows it's probably going to be DeBord.

I forget if it was when Sparty ended up with Bobby Williams, or when they ended up with Smith, but one of those times, Jackson was widely rumored to be a candidate for the MSU job.

He was also up for the Duke job last year.

Well let's see. He graduated from Michigan, which makes him less likely to leave. He's like 58 so he might want to finish his career as a head coach. If he did take the job he could bring his son along and definitaley boost EMU's recruiting. But unless EMU offers him a substantial amount of money (atleast 3 times as much as he's making now) he will not betray the Maize and Blue.

It's "betraying the Maize and Blue" to want to advance in your career?

Even if Fred ended up at EMU, it's HIGHLY unlikely his son would follow. We're talking about a kid who, I believe, had offers as a Junior from Michigan (duh), Florida and Texas. Bringing him to Eastern would be bad parenting.
And it would hardly be a 'betrayal' if he took his first head coaching job of his career, especially at a time where there are only 2 African American FBS head coaches in the entire country.

It's not like he'd be moving to freaking Hawaii, his kid would be 15 minutes away. If I was a 58 year old running back coach who had accomplished pretty much everything one can as an assistant, I might want to spend my last few years leading a school like EMU to mediocrity,

There was an interview with him in one of the old Wolverine magazines a few months back. He said that if he hadn't been re-hired by Rodriguez he would have retired. He's not going anywhere.
