Former Wolverine Pitcher Karl Kauffmann gets the call to the show

Submitted by ChalmersE on May 19th, 2023 at 2:38 PM

Kauffmann and Tommy Henry were the two pitchers who led Michigan to the cusp of a National Championship in 2019. Kauffmann will start this evening for the Rockies against the Texas Rangers. Henry has been starting for the Diamondbacks over the last month. The Rockies play the DBacks in 10 days. It sure would be neat if they faced off against each other.

Good for Karl!  Wish him much success and hope he can make it stick.

Hopefully he's learned his cliches and written them down.

"We gotta play 'em one day at a time."
"I'm just happy to be here, hope I can help the ball club."
"I just want to give it my best shot and--the Good Lord willing--things will work out."

This is a good opportunity for Karl. The Rockies have 3 starters out for a long time, German Marquez is having Tommy John surgery, Antonio Senzatella is likely out until August with an elbow strain, and poor damn Ryan Feltner has a broken skull from a line drive.

I look forward to seeing him pitch here when the Rockies get back in town.

Thanks for posting - was pretty excited when it was announced earlier this week that Kauffman was skipping his scheduled start at the AAA level.

The Rockies rotation has been decimated by injuries this season, so he should get ample opportunity to lock down a permanent spot. Hopefully the Rockies don't damage the kid lol..
