Encroachment penalties

Submitted by Clarence Beeks on

I really hope that the officiating crew this week can manage to do the oh so difficult task of actually calling the encroachment penalties against Miami (OH) that they couldn't quite comprehend against Utah.  When the center snapped the ball and the rest of the offensive line didn't move, it was because Utah's defensive line JUMPED OFFSIDE.  It's obvious that the Michigan center is taught to snap the ball if someone on the defensive line jumps.  For some reason both the officials and the announcers couldn't comprehend this.  In fact, the retards that ESPN had doing the game were absolutely dumbfounded by it and couldn't figure out what Threet was yelling at the refs about after the second time.  Are you kidding me?  I really hope that RR got into the ear of the officials after the Utah game because the second time it happened it would have been a first down if the penalty had been properly called.  My guess is that the officials weren't doing what every freaking defensive lineman is taught in pop warner: watch the damn ball and not the linemen.  That's the only way to explain how that wasn't called TWICE.  Terrible.

I apologize if this has already been posted, but 1) I'm new here and 2) I looked and didn't see it.

definitely agree. i was really confused the first time they did it (along with about 107,000 other people) but one of my friends works for the team and explained it to me. so i was pretty pissed as well when they didnt call it the second time because then instead of us getting a free play it basically gives utah a free play because we have taken the o-line out of the play. hopefully the refs will be on it today
