5 star recruit Emmanuel Mudiay is leaving SMU to play overseas per Garry Parrish.  Michigan is scheduled to play SMU in December.

I watched this kid play when he was in town. He picked up two quick fouls and sat the rest of the first half, but in the second half I couldn't believe his talent. He tried to do WAY too much, but his team was stuggling. You can't blame the kid for getting paid.

To be honest, I wish more 1-and-done guys did this.  It would allow for more continuity in college basketball, where the top players aren't leaving as frequently, and it would allow for more scholarships to go to kids who will stick around all 4 years.

An argument against it is that it would diminish the quality of play, but with that point I disagree.  This past season had one of the best freshman classes ever, and only two players (Parker and Wiggins) showed up on All-American first of second teams with no publication having more than one frosh on their third team (a few picked Aaron Gordon or Julius Randle).  Other one-and-dones like Noah Vonleh, Zach LaVine and James Young were good players but were drafted more for their upside and weren't adding a ton to the college game (LaVine didn't even start).

Let these guys go overseas where they can make money and do endorsements all above the table in the year or two before they come back stateside to the NBA.  And if it turns out they weren't NBA material, they can either take their millions and come back and pay for college or continue making decent money in Europe.

I think having some of your players with one foot in and one foot out of the college game hurts in the long run.  The Kentucky fan says, "I love this game!" while the Kentucky player says, "I wouldn't be here if I didn't feel like I had to be."  That's an undesirable situation.

It was Mudiay shunning Kentucky which possibly helped Calipari land Booker over Michigan.
