DeQuinta Jones just a "prospect" to Scout

Submitted by Promote RichRod on
I've noticed this for a while now, but on the right hand side they list 4 or so recruits, visitors, commits, etc...and DQJ has been listed as a "prospect" rather than a "commit." I'm not sure of the significance of this (maybe just lax updating), but then again maybe they know something we don't?

I think they know what we know. I mean, we do know that listing him as anything more than a prospect at this point in time is wishful thinking, right?

Technically, they are all prospects with exception of those who early enrolled since no one has signed their LOI. Remember that Sam McGuffie was this close --> to ditching U of M on LOI day for Cal. And I would think anyone who waivers up till signing day and ends up picking U of M will most likely end up transferring later on, imho.

But what you wrote has nothing to do with my question. Scout lists all people who are visiting as visitors, people that haven't given a verbal as prospects and people that have given a verbal as "commits." DQJ has given a verbal yet was listed as a prospect so I wondered why - and it turns out they list soft commits as prospects so I have my answer.

when someone is classified as a "soft" commit. In fact, if you look at the list of prospects instead of the list of commits, it won't even say committed on it. It will list school choices. it does that for bryce brown with miami too

their mods refer to him as a soooooft commit. so I don't think it matters if its listed differently elsewhere. they know what everyone else knows.

Don't even worry about what Scout says. It is the most worthless of the three main services IMO. They're missing two UVA commits, including one of our best and highest-profile, and they list one of our basketball commits in the football section - simply because he also once played RB in high school - even though he has absolutely no intention of joining the football team. And no, they don't always list "soft commits" as "prospects"....they do in fact sometimes list them as "soft commits". They did that for one of our (since decommitted) players. I'll worry about Jones when Rivals de-lists him.
