My guess is there's an ill side of him that we don't ever see in the media. I think if you watch one of the videos showing him mic'd up in spring practice he's a little more intense. And, guessing there's an entirely new level of intensity from Hoke the cameras will rarely capture. Closest I could remember is after the Akron game when he basically laid out they'd be practicing in full pads on Sunday, the next day.
There isn't a single formula for leadership, and the game and competition isn't the same as it was 25 years ago. So thinking that Hoke is a guaranteed fail because his emotions aren't worn on his shirt sleeve is erroneous in my thinking.
