College Football Live 50 States Tour

Submitted by Nieme08 on
I'm sure many of you saw today's college football live start their 50 states tour with the State of Michigan. I for one was pissed when I heard the analyst, when asked how to break the losing streak to Ohio State, say its going to take 2 - 3 years or even a new coach. Are people really already writing off Rich Rod as someone who clearly isn't the answer? I'm not! The dude said later that we were going to lose our first game to Western Michigan because they have "the best qb in the state." Then when asked who the best player in the state is he said "the quarterback from Central". So really this guy might just be another idiot from ESPN that doesn't know anything. I think if the QB situation is solidified by the end of the year this year, and Michigan turns it around like RR has done in all his 2nd years, OSU may be more vulnerable coming into the Big House this year than they have been in a long time. If the chips fall right we could be celebrating a victory in late November in Ann Arbor. Thoughts?

I think its a stretch that we'll beat Ohio State... Even Western Michigan is going to be a very tough Game. Hiller is one of the best QB's in the MAC and even the nation, we'll have a tough time. Ohio State is a few years ahead of us (via recruiting, talent). Do I think it will be 42-7? No, but probably like 28-14 or something.

At this point, you are absolutely right. Although, despite the depth issues, UM still is talented. It seems like the offense will be much improved based on the returning linemen and RBs/WRs. If Tate can operate efficiently and minimize mistakes, this offense could be really good. Defense....lots of uncertainty. New system, new players, little depth. Seems like everything is going to have to go right for the defense to be good this year. Meaning, no injuries, much improved tackling, and a few players will need to step up in a big way. The way I look at it is this. With how bad the offense/defense was in '08, UM was still a few plays away from being 5-7, and better ball security away from 6-6. Now tuos. They are definitely more vulnerable this year than at any point in the last 4-5 years. Yes, they are probably more talented, and have greater depth, but anything can happen in the game, especially with it being at the big house this year. I'm really excited for the season, and I do believe UM can beat tuos this year.

but really, not many people really see our program that well. A 3-9 team with a major rehaul strategically with negative reports of players transferring and Paulus and whatnot, I mean I think that that team wouldn't be that good. But,, they don't see that we have a new DC and players that "fit the system" now. From what they saw, we are no good. From what we sawm, wwe're improving. For the record I do not believe he siad Tim Hiller was the best in the state, merely that he wass the best kept QB secret in the country.

I was pleased with how they presented us with the proper amount of respect relative to MSU, not even entertaining the idea that they may be approaching us as a program...good to see that some people still see the larger context despite recent happenings
