Cal wins the national championship. LongLiveBo must be devastated that ASU couldn't pull it out.

I'm insanely jealous of the people with popular twitch channels.  I'm going to be working a job out in the "real world", and these people are making TONS more money than me by playing video games. Their job is to play video games.  That is the dream.

I can totally see it as living the dream, but it's also an insane grind.  The successful twitch streamers almost always are 6-7 day a week guys with no sick days type of deal, it's also pretty hard work as the best ones are constantly talking and interacting with their viewers.  And if you're not one of the lucky few that can kind of pick and choose what game you want to play, it becomes an even bigger grind of playing the same game day in and day out all day long.

Twitch viewers are also notoriously flakey, if you take just a few days off you can lose a lot of your viewers and with them their money.

Don't get me wrong, there are far worse jobs out there, but it's a lot more difficult and a lot more of a grind than just playing video games for a living.

A few diablo streamers have to play 10 to 12 hours a day to keep their viewers and that isn't even counting the time they spend updating their youtube page. Some may make a lot of money but when you break down the hours it isn't as much money as most think it is

Yeah, that's a valid point.  As fun as it may be initially, when you make something your job you sort of take some of the fun out of it.  I love gaming and I consider myself pretty good at a decent amount of games, but the thought that I would HAVE to play 8+ hours a day to make a living is somewhat unappealing in its own way.  Still, definitely not a bad way to go if you can make it work.

whose mom cut off his WoW account and he was so upset that he proceeded to sodomize himself with a tv remote? I picture that kid as like the Tom Brady of one of these teams. Right or wrong, I just do.

I'm not saying this is going mainstream anytime soon, but I've seen Dota 2 and League games with hundreds of thousands of spectators, which isn't bad compared to the NBA's tv ratings. (NBA is boring burn more than a serious comment, pls no one compare them) And there's always this http://www.esportsearnings.com/players which is not even taking into account the salaries paid to a lot of players.

This has been getting pretty big over the last couple of years. You can go to Twitch.tv and there will always be some kind of competition going between League of Legends, DOTA2, CSGO, Hearthstone, Smite, Starcraft  (I think its still kickin), and COD (blow my brains out)

I was alerted to this because I follow some of the Stanford Rivals guys on twitter. They did have some solid jokes about dragon and scholarship losses though.

Hey, if we can get guys like Shane Skov on dual scholarships to play LoL and football I'm game

from people who look at esports negatively. they just picture them as skinny little nerds normally. This is one of the top CS players in the world and clearly shows you can have a life outside of the games still. http://cdn.akamai.steamstatic.com/steamcommunity/public/images/avatars/…

That dude pretty much is set for life with the amount of money he has made winning tournements and part time streaming. He even has gotten a 15k donation from a guy that has donated thousands and thousands of dollars to him aready.

Hello there! Quite interesting thread. I follow esports, Dota 2 is my favorite game. I follow professional teams and often watch professional matches from Tier 1. Also I like to play, with dota 2 boost site I got several accounts and can enjoy gameplay on high rank!
