The collection that Cazzie built
I don't know how many of you remember my post about four months ago where I showed off my UM card collection (which led to my meeting a couple great fellow collectors, so thanks again to those guys!) but I wanted to give the board an update on that mainly because of something I received today: the eighth and final card I needed from Cazzie Russell's 2011-12 SP Authentic By the Letter "Michigan" nameplate. Every one of these cards is a manufactured letter autographed by Cazzie and serial #d to 50 (except for the "M" for some reason, that's to 25). Today I finally got to see all eight together and I was pretty excited, so I hoped some of you might enjoy it as well:
and another look:
So what do you guys think?
Wait.... so you're saying this post has nothing to do with anyone getting arrested?
I thought at least ONE post today could be about something other than athletes running afoul of the law. But I could try to generate more hits this way:
"Cazzie Russell tells M football fans to be on commit alert, is arrested for being too awesome, wants to know where his copy of HTTV is, wonders what you're drinking tonight. Also, Lloyd Brady."
Thanks! I had a hard time getting the last couple letters ("N" and "A") but the rest weren't difficult, mainly via eBay. I'm now onto working on a similar project with former M baseball star Zach Putnam.
Please let me know if you're ever interested in trading sometime as I love making deals to add to my collection and help fellow Michigan collectors too.
Well, CheckOutMyCards.com has a couple copies of the "C". Besides that I think eBay's your best bet, you just need to be patient and check every couple days.
Speaking of the other stuff you collect, have you been to the Michigan memorabilia place on Liberty? There's some pretty sweet stuff in there!
...is awesome. Stop in, Ken has every Michigan artifact and every Michigan story to boot.

I saw Cazzie's speech that is still on the wall at Crisler, and he was a student gym teacher at Tappan when I went there. That gives me a built-in bias and appreciation of all things Cazzie.
That's very cool! Although I definitely didn't choose him randomly, I can't make those same claims since I'm too young, but thanks to MGoBlog I've learned more than enough about him to know I should appreciate him too.
Are you going to get it framed?
I haven't figured out how I want to display it yet. Framing would be a cool option, I'll keep that in mind.
is to visit Savannah, GA and go to church one sunday where Cazzie is a preacher.
I think we need to organize a large Michigan contingent to pack the place
So were there fifty "I" letters printed or a hundred since there are two in MICHIGAN?
It looks like 100, or 50 of each "I". I think that's pretty common in situations like this, but maybe not.
