Coach Harbaugh's B1G Championship Week Presser is a Classic
I'm sure many readers of this blog don't need to be reminded of Coach's weekly presser but I couldn't help to post a link to it. If you love Coach, you'll love this press conference. Classic Jim Harbaugh giving credit to walk-ons, training staff, Ben Herbert, calling out various players for extra recognition. You get a sense for the deep sacrifice and commitment that many have given to make this team truly great.

EDIT: apologies, that doesn't seem to be working. Here's a picture of sad Buckeyes instead:

I don't know why anyone wouldn't want to play for a coach like Harbaugh. Never takes any of the credit and consistently puts you in position to succeed.

Wow...that was awesome to watch. I've never waivered supporting him as our coach, and cant believe people actually wanted to run him out of town.

I loved JH running down the list of player's anecdotes.
I could have listened to this one for hours.

I’ve got this hypothesis that I’d love to see tested somehow regarding clinical depression in adulthood and how kids are coached in their sports. So much emphasis is on depression caused from head trauma, but what about trauma caused by manipulative coaches who make their players feel worthless, or only valued for their output vs the effort they put in? I know I still have emotional scars from my high school football coaches nearby 30 years later. I adore how this coaching staff focuses on love, gratitude, and effort. I believe it will have huge long term positive impacts on these young men’s lives.

Alejandro Zuniga mentioned that Harbaugh said Sherrone Moore was "Beyond ready" to be a head coach. This goes back to my previous comment within the Biff Poggi post.
Harbaugh is doing what a great manager does at work: puts you in a position to succeed, and supports your ambitions—up to and including helping you find a job elsewhere if the top role (in this case, Harbaugh's) is taken.
This is how you create a stellar coaching tree and continue to get top coordinator talent. It's acknowledging that turnover happens and making Michigan an attractive destination. I dig it. It's how you build a great program.

I've been thinking about this piece a lot. If people go on to have success after working for you, you attract even more talented people to join your staff. That's what Saban has done. It's really smart of Harbaugh to promote his assistants for other jobs (even if it hurts him in the short term). I assume he has a long list of candidates for every key position should someone leave...

What star coordinator would not want to come here?

He got all of that one!

He also introduced me to an awesome new term, ‘War Daddy’

I'm not sure if the star-gazers on this board will like part of what he said.

I'm okay with it.
I say it at work, on the soccer team I coach, I'll take 10 people with hustle over one superstar any day of the week.
November 28th, 2022 at 9:44 PM ^
Uh… problem is that you get one hustler vs one superstar. You don’t get 10 of them if you pass on a superstar. I agree that a non-hustler is locker room poison though.

That’s the worst video player of any website I have ever seen. I had a kinda crap day at work at that video player has about made me punch myself in the face.

Remember there were people that woke up today with the realization that they are OSU fans. Let that sink in a few minutes as you regain you senses and realize how blessed we all are.

Jim Harbaugh has the uncanny ability to be a relatable "players coach" while still being a "Bo/Woody" toughness and discipline coach.

if you have 30 min to kill, it's well worth it. basically talks about every player and coach with some good stories.

Loved the part about giving game balls to all the walk ons

This whole thing was a treasure. Coach Harbaugh’s love of Michigan and dedication to excellence in his program is so special. The way he gives credit to everyone around him is such a beautiful thing.
Here is one of my favorite quotes:
‘We’re looking for the guys who really like football, you know, who really want to get good at football. No matter what their star rating is, that’s fairly irrelevant to us.’
Ari Wasserman 🤯 put that one in your pipe…

From the transcription they do at Wolverines Wire. I always like to read these...give 'em a click if you'd like to read the whole thing, but this part spoke to me about the character of our best players.
