Coach and Coordinator Podcast: Craig Roh
Former Michigan linebacker/defensive end Craig Roh popped up on my Apple Podcasts feed this morning. He was interviewed on Coach and Coordinator Podcast since he's written the Pass Rush Bible and is developing into a little bit of a football educator. If any of you are interested, here's the link:
Also, here's the description:

That dude had cool eyebrows..
He was on the D that Mattison claimed, played up to finally being a Michigan D, and had made Mattison cry.

Yeah, I wish he had four years with Mattison instead of two. He could have been pretty dominant, I think. Unfortunately, the idiots at Michigan prior to Mattison messed around with playing a 6'5", 250 lb. kid at a stacked linebacker spot in the 3-3-5.

Can he recruit defensive tackles?

Roh was such a fun guy to root for in college. 4 star out of Arizona, one of the first big recruits of the new and hopeful Rich Rod era. Unselfishly lined up at LB, and finally was a lynch pin of those units that turned Michigan defenses around from a dumpster fire into something to be proud of.
Now he is a fun Twitter follow, posting coaching tidbits here and there.

Magnus, have you had a chance to review Roh's "Pass Rush Bible" in depth, and if so, what's your reaction to it?

I have not. To my knowledge, it's only in PDF form (at least right now), and I hate reading long-form things electronically. I'd be much more inclined to read it if I were able to order/get a hard copy.

I wish Craig all the best. High motor player and unselfish. Hope some great coaching opportunities are in this young man’s future.

Didn't realize Craig Roh had become a Football Ph.D of sorts! I can give the podcast a listen, but curious if anyone knows if he has actually performed a field test with his pass rush methodology, or if it's philosophical for now.
If I'm the Michigan staff, I am definitely kicking the tires to see if Craig has any interest in a GA or Analyst position on the staff. If the guy has put in enough effort and research to write a book, he definitely has something to say on the subject.
Pursuing a working relationship with Craig and the program would be an example of outside the box thinking to gain any kind of competitive edge that the program sorely needs.

I didn't listen to the podcast yet but the first thing that comes to mind is to ask if this is in place on any actual team.

Looking back there were quite a few gems on defense in the RRod era. It is a shame but it's eerily similar in a way to some of the defenders we have now that should have had more success like Paye, etc.
