Chatting up today's NFL Slate - 10/11

I'm rotating 4 games currently - Texans/Jags (Watson fan), Chiefs/Raiders (great early matchup), Steelers/Eagles (another good matchup), and Ravens/Bengals (Jackson v Burrow).

So far, the Texans look good post Bill O'Brien. They're probably a little more relaxed.

Baltimore seems to be back after getting their hats handed to them by KC the other week.

Something about Wentz and the Eagles are just off. Steelers should win this handily.

And today will be a good test for Gruden's Raiders. Are they ready to take the step up to contender?

Wow, as I type, Miles Sanders just goes 70+ yards to tie the Pitt/Philly game!

Garden Minshew dropping dimes on that drive! QB evaluation has to be the most difficult assessment in sports. This guy went to several colleges, was drafted late, and occasionally balls out!

Im still bummed about the Bears beating Brady/Tampa!

Interesting also is that game was the most watch NFL game since the Super Bowl.

Tom still brings the cha-ching!

That KC offense is phenomenal, but the Raiders are almost matching them score for score. This last drive had a nice run by Devontae Booker (from Harbaugh's first game as Head Coach here), and Derek Carr had a nice pass! This may be the game of the day!

Chiefs had a TD taken off of the board for OPI. Nice drive, but only a FG before the half. Tied with the Raiders at 24. I like a little defense, but this game is entertaining.

Steel City offense not looking bad! The former ND receiver Claypool is having a GAME!

The curse of Bill O'Brien continues. How do you trade away arguably the best receiver in the game? That dramatically lessened the danger and explosiveness of your offense. Not only that, but your young quarterback leaned on him. Jaguars just bailed out Texans, after INT, with a trick play fumble. Texans ball again! Back to back turnovers in this game. LOL

Wentz just threw another pick! Wow! Jalen Hurts time, maybe. LOL

Nice TD drive by Watson after throwing a pick into double coverage on the previous drive. This guy is good! I just hope O'Brien didn't hamstring this team long term with his bad personnel moves and horrible coaching.

First couple drives of the second half for Chiefs/Raiders... DEFENSE!

I just rewatched the Rams-Patriots Super Bowl analysis, so I wanted to check in on the Rams.

My conclusion, based on just the game so far, is that Jared Goff is not a good QB. Whatever magic he had a couple years ago is gone, or teams have really figured out how to confuse him since the Pats did it.

His throws aren't crisp or timely. He is usually just a touch late. His handoffs hold the RB up just a hair. I've seen no fewer than 3 shoulda-been interceptions. Sean McVay is scheming guys wide open and through the middle of the defense, and it's amazing that it isn't eleventy billion to 10 right now.

In that Super Bowl season for the Rams, it was said that McVay would tell Goff where to go with the ball during the time that coaches could communicate into the helmet receiver (15 seconds on the play clock). Belichick found this out, and he would disguise the defense until it was too late for the Rams to change the play. This was the beginning of exposing McVay, Goff, and the Rams offense. Hence, the terrible year they had last year. It's surprising that Goff hasn't grown much since then.

Hats off to Alex Smith for making it all the way back! Incredible and something I thought I would never see. Can't imagine all the work he put in to get to this point.

Damn, there's only one game on where there isn't a double digit lead. I think I'll give my fingers a rest from typing and dual remote toggling. If a discussion breaks out. I'll be back.

EDIT - a discussion broke out!

The Eagles and Carson Wentz are no longer on life support. They are active and in this game! Travis Fulgham (former Lions and Packers player) is having a CAREER day!

I just don't see how, after this week, that the Jets and Falcons, both 0-5, don't move on from Gase and Quinn, respectively. These teams are not just losing, but the losses are embarrassing. They are not well coached football teams. It can be argued that there should be 3 openings this week (Lions, Jets, Falcons).

The Autumn Wind is a RAIDER!!!

That's ballgame, right there! Mahomes throws a pick that's returned inside the 5 yard line, and Jacobs takes it in from there!

The Steelers put away Philly with Claypool catching his FOURTH touchdown of the game! Big Ben has found another weapon!

Probably the worst year of football I can remember. Such sloppy play so far and no teams have really separated themselves as unbeatable/dominant, but the amount of putrid teams is just absurd.

By far the most bottom heavy that pro-football has been in forever. Also notable is the blue blood teams which are in the list of horrible teams.

I can’t tell if your talking about college or the nfl?? While this specific weekend may not be the best, the nfl has had a great season. Outside of UM, I don’t really watch much college, but the quality of play in the NFL has been pretty solid to me (except for those on this board who may be from Michigan and enjoy the lions...bummer)

Thought Zimmer made a bad call at the end by going for it. I have seen Russell Wilson too many times over the years make game winning drives. FG makes it an 8 point lead which meant at worst they would be tied if Seattle scored and made the 2 pt conversion..
