Cameo videos of UM athletes, brief review

Posting this because I had a really good experience with Cameo, which is a well-known site for ordering personalized messages from athletes and other public figures (entertainers, etc). I didn't see any other posts about Cameo vis a vis UM athletes in the past year or two so I thought I would post my experience with it in case others weren't aware and/or might be interested in it.

A buddy of mine got a me a wonderful Brandon Graham birthday message on Cameo a few years ago (I'm a big Eagles fan as well so it was particularly cool for me)  and based on that experience I took a look at UM athletes to record a message for my son who recently broke his hand and was in the dumps about it. As it happened I found Luke Schoonmaker on there and ordered a video message which he sent in time for Christmas. It was a lovely message and my son was over the moon about it.

I cannot speak to Cameo's business model (how much goes to the athletes, etc.) but on the surface it seems to be a great way to send a friend/loved one a cool message and support players at least somewhat directly. AJ Henning is also on there and has very good reviews. They aren't always available ( I suspect they will have a bit more time in a few weeks.....) so you might have to check back in at various times.

Oh, man. I sent a request to Luke Schoonmaker and it expired because he didn't do it in time. Hopefully once the playoff is over he'll be able to make them again. My son sent in some artwork to the team after they beat Ohio State and I wanted him to feel like they got it and it motivated them to win the B1G. For only $15, it would be totally worth it! Can't believe more aren't on there.

I had Jake Butt make one for my kids and he did an amazing job--really went above and beyond and told a personal story that resonated with them. Highly recommended.

I can attest to the joy of receiving a Cameo. My friend got me one for my birthday a few years ago, and Jimmy King gave me and my family a thoughtful and kind message. He addressed each one of them personally, said some really nice things, my kids loved it.

My wife got me a Franz Wagner cameo appearance for my bday last year.  It was a lot of fun.  Fun gift and supports Michigan family, I'm a fan.  I, too, am not familiar with the economics, but Michigan should probably set up a Michigan-specific platform for athletes and others, and pass along more of the dollars to the performers.  Seems like there is enough critical mass at Michigan to do it.
