I wonder how fast they Flyers are going to insert him into the lineup? They have the room with Shayne Gostisbehere being waived and they desperately need the help on the back end to help out their atrocious goaltending. WOOF!

Probably won’t see it for a while, even if York is ready. 21 games left and probably don’t want to start the first year York’s 3 year contract if you don’t need to.

The way ELC’s are structured in the NHL, the clock on deal length doesn’t start until after you’ve played 10 NHL games. So if he plays 10+ games, one of those three years knocks off his deal. If the Flyers play him in less than 10, then all three years remain on his deal next season. So it would be a pretty silly move for the Flyers to burn a year off a contract for 20ish games.

So you’ll probably see him in the minors to start and then when theres less than 10 games remaining, and depending on how he did in the AHL/the position of the Flyers, you might see him called up then. If he struggled in the AHL and the Flyers are battling for a playoff spot, you might not see him at all.

I saw somewhere, sorry for the somewhere part of that, that his ELC is expected start this year and not slide to next year.

In all honesty, the Flyers are a mess and need all the help they can get to get into the playoffs. The East is a monster of a division though and you'll have the Bruins, Flyers and Rangers fighting for the last spot with the Flyers by far looking like the worst of those three.

I think would be smart to keep him in Lehigh as game by game, the Flyers are looking like the 5 or 6 seed in the division but people's jobs will be on the line and they may use Cam to see if he can inject some life into the team, despite losing the first year of the ELC for only 20 games.

It'll be interesting to see, for sure. Looking at possibly three going in the top-10 but due to scouts not really getting as good of a look as they normally do this past year due to Covid, teams could decide to let them stay where they are and take closer looks next season before they decide how and where they should develop.

I think you can look at any of the three and see areas they can improve. Beniers is probably the more complete of the two forwards, Johnson obviously could stand to get bigger/stronger and Power has the size/ability to play in the NHL right away but could get stronger as well.

The biggest question is whether or not their respective NHL teams want them to develop another year in college or in the AHL. Personally, for as young as they are, I think that college for another year is the better option. They likely stand to play bigger roles here and two years of college is starting to become commonplace for first round picks.

In addition to those three, we also have Luke Hughes (yes, another Hughes brother) who is a defenseman also being projected as a top 10 pick that is committed to come here next season.

Good luck to Cam!  He was terrific this year.  Hopefully we can keep around some of the freshmen.  With next year’s class coming in and some strength development from the freshmen, we could have an excellent squad next year.

I think this was basically expected. I basically hope to get 2 years out if the first round guys and we got it with him. Good luck and thanks Cam
