Brionte Dunn Not Visiting UM This Week
Per Sam Webb's twitter, no visit this weekend. Not a good sign for Michigan and Brionte.
Edit: After further research, it seems he may be visiting in January. Seems he's serious about not being EE. Sorry if I panicked you although this is still news for the fervent Brionte watchers.

i think dunn is waiting for the ncaa ruling. he would be foolish not to wait, imo. the EE status is of little importance to choosing the right school for him. seems pretty obvious to me that he wants to go to osu provided they don't get hammered hard by the ncaa. though i wouldn't want to make a living on predicting high school kids' decisions.

If this were another decent 2012 RB who was a solid 4 star committed to another school, I doubt we would dedicate dozens of board discussions.
Fact of the matter is, running back is an important position, yes, but Dunn's commitment or lack thereof, will not make or break our class, or playing season.
I think the only thing that interests me (and surely others) about his recruitment is the prospects we may possibly take another OSU recruit...and this time, from Urban Meyer.
Don't get me wrong...I'd love to see "Dunn" on the back of a jersey below a winged helmet next season, but if he doesn't, I'm sure Hoke and co. will set their sights on an excellent 2013 RB, because we're Michigan, fergodsakes.

I doubt he reads Mgoblog and noones personally attacking or scrutinizing him. We've just taken great interest from afar.

I'm not the droid you're looking for?
I'm not disputing anything you've said...was this meant to reply to another comment?

Meant to reply one below to OntarioBlue. Not sure how that happened.

Point taken. Keep in mind, Baxter was a consensus 5* guy/top 20 prospect with an amazing offer sheet. I'm not saying Dunn is not good, but Baxter was an excellent, top 20 prospect...to bad his behavior didn't match his talent.
I guess my point was I think the biggest reason we are so excited for this kid is that we might "steal" him from OSU...after all, he was viewed as a "bonus" to this class. I just don't think we should fret if he decides not to come, because there are prospects elsewhere in the 2013 class.

he has a tough decision. His childhood favorite versus the hated rival. His cousin is already committed so is his best friend. I think he just wants to step back, collect his thoughts, then make the right decision. I am willing to wait for him, because in the end his head will win over his heart and he will be wearing the maize and blue.

is overplayed. Look at the Borens, the whole family turned coat in matter of days.
December 13th, 2011 at 2:34 PM ^
If we get him, great. If we don't, but we close with Garnett/Kozan/Diamond, Chesson/Payton, Reeves, Wright, and Grant I can't really complain.

much more about beating Ohio for his services, than Dunn himself. It's weird saying that about a boarderline 5-star, top 10 RB kid. However, his film is very unimpressive. He has Wheatley and Chris Perry size, however he doesn't appear to have their speed. On the other hand, Ty Isaac looks like a Wheatley clone to me.....
December 13th, 2011 at 2:45 PM ^
Chris Perry had speed? Not that I saw. Sure, he broke a couple long runs in his four years of significant contributions, but he was more of a pounder than anything else. If you look through his stats, he pretty consistently had long runs of 15 or 16 yards. Out of 811 career carries, he only had 5 that went for over 40 yards. By comparison Toussaint has 5 carries of 40+ yards in his 174 career attempts. Wheatley had at least 9 in 688 attempts.
Perry was pretty much an average running back who was blessed to run behind a large, talented offensive line.
December 13th, 2011 at 2:53 PM ^
Great to look at the numbers. Your probably right on Perry's speed. My point is that to me Dunn doesn't apprear to have the speed or footwork of a top 10, 4-5 star back. I'm not claiming to be Sam Webb or Trieu. However, Ty Isaac looks like the complete package!

I wouldn't rate Dunn as a 5-star back, but I think a 4-star is pretty accurate. As for being top 10 at his position, I think it depends on who's ahead of him. In my opinion, I think it's kind of a down year for running backs nationally, so I can see why some services think he ranks pretty highly.
December 13th, 2011 at 5:16 PM ^
i don't think "average" college backs (or avg backs at UM) make it to be a high round pick in the NFL.
December 13th, 2011 at 2:37 PM ^
freaked me out, dude.
December 13th, 2011 at 2:43 PM ^
than a free trip, what does he have to lose by announcing? He would be an immediate hero, with all the tattoos, entitlements and other perquisites that a verbal commit confers down there.
If he has even the slightest thought of going Blue, I could easily see how he might be reticent to voice that until it was time.
If he just needs some drama in his life, I'll just reference my posts relative to a particular qb who chose that place.
I feel the most likely is simply that he wants to wait for the boy's club to decide whether or not tsiO even did anything wrong, and what awards they might hand out. I can appreciate and applaud waiting for facts to unfold prior to making important decisions.

on Pittman's decommitment from S mentions that Pharaoh Brown is a option for State in this class. I would love it if Hoke and Co would pull A Burbridge to our side!

What makes everyone so confident with Ty Issac? Urban Liar just offered him, to go along with every other school in the country.
December 13th, 2011 at 3:44 PM ^
I'm not confident about Isaac, and I'm not convinced that missing Dunn helps us all that much with Isaac. Really elite recruits tend not to worry too much about depth charts. They just figure that they'll sit atop it no matter who else is there. The competition for Isaac will be intense, and I think the probability that we get him is far below 50%.
Also, as a heads up, names like "Urban Liar" are frowned upon here - and for good reason. I'd drop that stuff. It really isn't funny or creative, and it's the kind of thing that makes people roll their eyes when they are exposed to other fanbases.

Was Brionte able to EE at UM? I thought the reason why Taylor McManara ruled out UM was because he couldn't be an EE...does Brionte's decision put Taylor back in play?
December 13th, 2011 at 5:07 PM ^
It was not that McManara could not be an EE, but it is that he wouldn't be able to EE at UM. The timetable for visiting, talking to the coaches, and getting comfortable with the program (if we wanted to come here) would of all taken way too long if he was going to EE. At least that is how I understand it, but either way the answer on McManara is still no.
December 13th, 2011 at 4:35 PM ^
Anybody else tired of these kinds of posts? Sick of hearing, he's not visiting so by default he's going to OSU. Relax peeps, he's coming to Michigan. Bank it! (probably ;) )

I don't have enough points to post. Could someone start a new thread and embed this video.

I think the allure of Dunn is more intoxcating over the fact of stealing him from ohio. Ive heard that hes all that and ive heard thats hes not. UM is pretty set at RB for atleast another year with Fitz and hopefully Rawls and Hayes will step right in next season. The addition of Drake Johnson seems to me like a RB everyone looked over due to his major involvement in track. Being a pretty big kid now and almost rushing for 3000 yards his senior season at Pioneer im sure UM will put a few more lbs on him to give him more power. I can see this kid being better then Dunn. Definetly not the end of the world if he Dunn doesnt committ to ][V][.
