Braylon on NFL network

There has been a lot of smack talk getting me excited about the upcoming college season...like it's *finally* almost here.  I cheered on Carson Palmer for his refusal to root for OSU the other day, and then there was today...

(almost double entered - whew - caught myself!) On the NFL network, Rich Eisen and Braylon Edwards were talking about the Browns then moved on to U-M.  Braylon gave some tempered enthusiasm about the coaching and style changes and then added that he did think it was probably time to change and good for Michigan, so that they could compete with the USC's, the Floridas, the Miamis and so on.

Mr Michigan Alumnus Eisen chucklingly said, "I notice you didn't mention Ohio State".

"Why would I?" was the incredulous retort from Braylon.

Awesome!!  That just made my evening.

As excited as I am for this season to start, I'm more excited to get this OSU rivalry back to at least the point where one team is ecstatic to just go 3-2 in a five year span. I've barely experienced that in my lifetime. Being 24 years old, my first vivid memories of the rivalry were the Cooper years, Bo bless them. Then came the Tressel years. I'm ready for this thing to start going back and forth on a yearly basis, instead of one team dominating for a decade (Michigan!) or a half-decade (osu). Or, you know, Michigan to win 10 straight!

We should borrow Woody's phrasing and just call it: That school down south and leave it at that. Except for the fact that ND is also down south. Hmm. Or we could adopt the election year strategy and just refer to them as "our opponents." I vote for Braylon's take. Why should we refer to them?
