The catching part wasn’t really a problem, it was more the fumbling part.
Remember the days when the upbacks were told to take a knee (about the same timeline when multiple players with same number didn’t exist)?

Turner seems to have figured it out. Booting kicks like a Moody clone today.

Two muffed punt mistakes could have been costly. Thaw has better hands. No missed extra points and made 1 FG. The punts were very good as well as coverage.
They get a B-.

First one wasn’t a muff. Bredeson caught it and made a good move to gain some yards but then got hit perfectly and jarred the ball loose. The next one was McGregor trying to catch it on the run and as expected muffed it badly but was able to jump back on it

Yeah but they're training to not let the ball pop loose no matter how perfect the tackle is. I get it, everyone makes mistakes, but you're only allowed so many when trying to win championships.

I don't think there were muffed punts unless I've already blocked them out. Both of the fumbles (one muff, one forced fumble) were on kickoffs.
Morris looked better on punt returns than Thaw, again.

Doman.....boom, boom, boom. Nice. Turner seems to have some things figured out. But that kick coverage....guh. Morris vs. Thaw on punts.....edge to Morris? I think? He seems more capable of making something good happen.....

strangely sloppy. i get the bredeson thing - he’s technically a guy that might touch the ball on offense, so sure. grab it and go. but once that happened jay should’ve told every other up player to just grab it and sit down…but ONLY IF IT COMES RIGHT TO YOU. mcgregor seemed to think he was gonna house it. no. don’t do that.

Solve the squib kicks by getting some hands there and taking the good field position. Kicking game looked pretty solid. ST can get better, but it was far from the worst of our problems Saturday.

Jack Thaw is probably a super smart and nice young man, however we really need Tyler Morris to return punts
