Big Chill Trivia Questions

Submitted by True Blue in CO on

While the movie "The Big Chill" is not truly a football movie, it is a movie involving Michigan Football.  Thought folks would like to throw out some football trivia related to the movie, any other movies with Michigan football, or other trivia appropriate to the Big Chill event this weekend.

Questions I will start with but looking for others.

  1. What is the date of the football game shots shown in the movie?
  2. Which Michigan players are featured in the football sequence?
  3. Who were the announcers for the game?

Other content and questions appreciated.  If a savvy video expert can come up with the football video sequence from the Big Chill, I will gladly contribute positive points.

1.  MSU @ Michigan in 1980.  The '80 game would have been played on 10/11/80.  I had to look up the date, obviously.

2.  Best play was a pass to Craig Dunaway, who caught it, made a nice move and got up the West sideline for big yardage, in a really close game.

3.  Announcers?  I dunno.  Keith Jackson and Frank Broyles?  Or Bob Griese?

Per the MGoBlue.com article about the film back in August: "The footage of the game is actually from Oct. 11, 1980, when U-M beat MSU, 27-23, at the Big House in Ann Arbor. Topping off the scene is the fact that Michigan's own Jim Brandstatter is calling the play-by-play that can be overheard on the TV set. His play-by-play man was Larry Adderley at the time." That should answer #1 and #3 for sure. Article linked here: http://www.mgoblue.com/sports/m-hockey/spec-rel/080410aaa.html
