BBall Recruiting - 2021 EM 4* Guard Jordan Hawkins
Still playing catch up with the new staff on board, but we've entered the mix for 2021 prospect Jordan Hawkins (a 4star for me)............a prospect that I sort of helped bring to the national spotlight in terms of exposure at the Nike Elite 100. It's sufficient to say that I'm a huge fan of his game and would absolutely love to land him.
I like how recruiting is shaping up.. at least it feels like the momentum is building... bank on getting Dickinson, if not Kessler, or even both. And am hoping Christopher is another. JH is gonna play this just like he did as a recruit... to get them to recruit each other at the McDonalds game.
The approach under Coach Howard is vastly different in relation to the Beilein tenure. We're going after elite level talent as a first resort as opposed to sort of waiting to see if those type of prospects reach out initially in some cases.
I'm certainly no doom-n-gloomer but I don't share your optimism regarding those guys. Of those three I'd give Dickinson the highest chance but I don't see Christopher or Kessler coming to Michigan. Gonzaga seems to be the leader for Kessler now and a host of who's who are courting Christopher.
Anyone get the feeling that Juwan seems to already kinda be setting his sights on 2021 as the class that he's putting the most effort into? He's obviously recruiting 2020, but like a lot his initial offers were 2021 guys and maybe he realizes he's already behind on a lot of 2020 guys?
He's behind on top 2021 prospects too. He put out 5 early offers to that class. He has to recruit them along with the 2020 class. He has certainly made a lot more offers to 2020 kids and is spending most of his time watching them. One of the top 2021 kids they have been following is talking about reclassifying to 2020. Something they have to keep an eye on with some of the others.
They just offered another forward in Henry Coleman III. Hes a 2020 top 50 recruit. Hopefully he can land somebody in the top 50 to get those dominos to start falling.
It's clear that Juwan is recruiting more highly-rated players than Beilein did. The question is: do we have a legitimate shot at closing on that kind of talent?
