B1G adds Johns Hopkins WLAX as affiliate member

Johns Hopkins has been accepted and will be the 7th member of the B1G in Women's Lacrosse and the 2nd sport affiliate in B1G history with the Johns Hopkins Men's Lacrosse team being the first this past season.

The top conference in the nation just got tougher.

Maryland just won the national championship and is insanely good every season, Northwestern at one point had a 4-peat national championship dynasty, PSU finished second in the B1G last year and OSU was in the top-10 at one point this past season.

Gonna be tough but Michigan's program that just finished its 2nd season ever but will only get better by playing that kind of tough competition each week. Similar to what Field Hockey did back in the late 90s/early 2000 when they won the National Championship in 2001.

Hopkins will play their first season in the B1G beginning the 2016-17 year.

B1G needed their Men's team to get to 6 to form a B1G conference in the men's game. There were already 6 B1G schools with WLAX, so the B1G didn't really need JHU.

They were alright with staying as an Independent. Now that they joined the B1G in WLAX, there are no more Independents in WLAX since NJIT joined the Atlantic Sun in all sports.
