B10 Network: Michigan Training Camp, Tonight, 10:30pm EST

Submitted by Kalamablue on August 14th, 2023 at 11:40 AM

Greetings fellow michigan football degenerates,

The B10 Network will be premiering its Training Camp roadshow at Michigan, tonight at 10:30pm EST. I've been watching the other stops and it's nothing too groundbreaking, but it's new content and there will be some interviews.

Here is link: https://btn.com/shows/ of the BTN website, you can watch via Fox App or YoutubeTV if you have it.

Cheers.

Was just creating a similar topic -- glad I refreshed the board before posting..

For those on X / Twitter -- Dave Revsine, Howard Griffith, and Gerry Dinardo tend to shoot off a few tweets on their impressions in the interval between the visit and the show airing.

Honestly it feels like this camp has been eerily quiet! Not even the usual updates on position battles or anything has come out this year. Hopefully it’s because things are going swimmingly.

It’s before the training camp video - and, Michigan is down at halftime in a game against the Bucks in Columbus .   The weather is terrible - too sunny…

It sounds like there’s a bit of contact at practice too.

There's a saying that's been going around Michigan - with Harbaugh - which, candidly, I disagree with.

The saying is; "Iron sharpens iron".   Based on my metallurgical knowledge - it should be - "Steel sharpens steel."   Steel is a stronger material than iron - and, reflects a blend of elements - usually iron and carbon.

So - though it's not my intention to challenge the coaching staff - the team should really be saying "Steel sharpens steel."    I know it's a very minor thing - but, technically more correct.

P.S. - I also believe in the saying - "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."   If the team has good karma with the iron reference - don't change a thing.

Go Blue...

I watched last night and - my takeaway was - it’s worth an hour of a fan’s time.   Some good conversation across the board - with coaches and players.

Practices seem very focused with contact (which, IMO - is a good thing).

The bond and culture for the team appears very special - and my hope is that it is (or has become) ingrained in everyone on the roster.   Absolutely fantastic.

If you haven’t seen it - record it - and watch it sometime.

It makes me anticipate the season even more.

Thanks for posting the video.  IMO, it's well worth the 45 (or so) minutes of content - and, it appears the team is building on its recent accomplishments and raising the bar.

FYI - there are interviews with Harbaugh - the coordinators - and key players from both sides of the ball.   It's enjoyable to hear their perspectives - and, I enjoyed Harbaugh's view on the OL - the DL - practices, as well as everyone's perspective about culture.  This team really seems to be "one".

I don't know what your thoughts are about various commentators on BTN - but, here's my quick take.

  • Jake Butt is great - obviously, he's connected to Michigan - but, also brings a degree of objectivity with great questions which is nice.
  • Dave Revsine - seems to be the voice of the conference and, though objective, wants to give B1G teams the benefit of the doubt and view the glass as being half full.  Easy to listen to.
  • Howard Griffith - my favorite.   Objective, knowledgeable, identifies strengths and weaknesses of teams - and - calls it like he sees it.
  • Gerry DiNardo - uggh - he brings the longest tenure playing / coaching on the BTN broadcast crew to football - but, doesn't seem to raise the level of discussion higher.

I’ve been a fan since I was in a diaper at the big house and haven’t been this excited that I can remember. Harbaugh has truly built something special.

Respectfully, what do you think he's built that is "something special"?

And - I agree with you - it seems this team is very focused - talented - and the season has a great deal of promise.

My view about what makes this season - and the roster - special include:

  • Experience across the roster
  • Rebuilding the S&C program and utilizing leading edge / progressive techniques
  • Development - which not only builds on the S&C, but schemes - recognition, adjustment, and understanding,
  • Leadership and approach of all three units - offense, defense, and special teams
  • Depth on the OL
  • Culture - the team, the team, the team.

His ability to identify underrated talent being #1. S&C being number 2. Herbert is priceless. Also the fact that it seems we’ve finally become a team that can reload instead of rebuild. His staff being a close, if not #1. Just everything’s clicking for the program in a way I have never seen. The team seems like they’d run through a wall for Jim and that makes a team especially dangerous with the talent we have. Can we beat Georgia? Who the hell knows, but I think we can put CFP on notice and bully the hell out of OSU in a way that makes the last 2 years seem like two hand touch!

"bully" - one thing that's been interesting to me - as commenters / analysts discuss Michigan this season - every one of them talks about the line play - and, which teams in the B1G / college football can challenge at the point of attack.   Each analyst raises the strength of Michigan's OL.

On a tangent - what I believe is especially nice and beneficial is - Michigan's D has to face Michigan's OL every day in practice.   And - on a variant of what's said around Schembechler Hall - "steel sharpens steel".

I agree with you completely on the points you raised.
