Article about Chase keeping a low profile at minicamp

I suspect that this could said about most NFL rookies fighting to get on a roster, but this article indicates that Chase Winovich is consciously toning down his personality.  I hope once he makes the team that eventually the old Chase personality comes back.  To me, he was one of the stars of the game scenes from "All or Nothing".

I thought that it was also interesting that he has a connection to Brady from Brady's return to Ann Arbor as honorary captain a few years ago.

Definitely a good move. Show your work ethic, don't rub people the wrong way, quietly do your thing. The time will come when you can show more of your personality.

What a dumbass article.  The writer is clearly biased...and then I clicked on his profile and see that the first line says "Proud Spartan"

What the Fuck is their problem?

I interviewed this week for a position with a Fortune 200 company (I got the offer yesterday).  The VP of the company went to MSU and is a couple of years older than me.  I went to CMU, though I was admitted to UM Ann Arbor, however I could not afford it at the time, age 18 with no family financial support.

So this VP said to me "Good thing you did not go to Michigan....I will not hire any UM grad.  I'm serious, I will not do it".

Again...WTF is wrong with those people?  When they are so biased as to eliminate good candidates because they do not like their sports teams?  Imbeciles.

I do not disagree with your assessment of this article. Even without clicking through to the writer's profile I could tell it was slanted. The little brother syndrome was evident even when he mentioned UM beating MSU but then he skipped right to OSU beating UM just so he had something to substantiate his angle.

He took a couple sound bites from Chase and wrote an entire piece. That's his job, I guess. But he sucks at it.

Im negotiating.... :)  I'll probably take it and just keep my mouth shut about football.  It pays to have social intelligence, unlike what most Spartans have.

PS: My dad went to Michigan and M football is in my blood.  Last night I was watching the 95 OSU game while working on my computer.

If you have other options, only if it is a good company (and just b/c they're Fortune 200 doesn't make them so) would I advise you take this position.  That a VP is honestly that dumb to intentionally not hire Michigan grads simply b/c of a giant case of butt hurt is an immense, bright red flag.  That a VP of a company would make business decisions on this basis shows incredibly bad business sense.  If it's a good company this fool will get exposed quickly and shown the door, directly or indirectly.

I wouldn't be surprised if Mr. Brady reached out to a fellow Michigan Man and said, "Yo, the boss really hates that stuff so if you want to make a good impression, put a lid on it."

Maybe when you are a rookie, you should keep your mouth shut until your performance earns you the right to spout off?  Sounds as if Chase is simply showing us he has some brains by toning it down and focusing on learning what the pro game is about.

The Patriots are anything but a loudmouthed, cocky organization. And Chase is a rookie coming in there. I think he recognizes that he is the bottom rung of the totem pole there until he makes the team and starts getting to the QB.

I think you'll see his personality shine through a bit on the field when/if he starts making plays, but I doubt you'll see much, if any off-field talk from him. Belichek runs as tight a ship in New England as a head coach can run anywhere in the league.
