Navy toys and Air Force toys are about the same in terms of coolness I think, although i admit the SuperHornet is a hell of a machine.
The Air Force builds the morale facilities first thing is a farce, but it's a funny one. The main thing is the Navy does have to keep those gigantic ships maintained and that kills it's budget for land based faciltiies. I truly think the Army just does not give a shit and so the Air Force, which gets budget for both maintaining it's cool airborne toys as well as the cyber command can use the money to work on facilities.

John Feinstein's book detailing a year in the lives of West Point and Annapolis students really touched on that ,as well. The book is dated as hell for the most part, having been written during a time when the rivalry was running in West Point's favor and the USAFA was the dominant academy regarding the Commander-In-Chiefs Trophy, but it's still a great read.

Yeah, as an Air Force guy who roots for Navy and Army whenever they're not playing Air Force, I was well and truly struck by the fact that the players a the other academies actively did not return the favor. I think it's stupid, but I still think it is motivated in part by jealousy and maybe a bit of dismissiveness due to the Air Force not having the tradition of the Army or the Navy.

Army (and to a lesser extent Air Force) will not knock Navy off the top until they modernize their athletic departments. Full explanation here:

I saw that same article via SBNation this weekend while reading a preview of the game; fascintating stuff:

I had been under the impression that the programs were essentially interchangeable, that they were all competing for the same type of student athlete, that the equivalent of one academy dominating the others to this degree is the equivalent of Tim Roth's coin toss ALWAYS coming up "HEADS" during "Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead"...but that couldn't be further from the truth; it really isn't a level playing field at all. Annapolis DOES exploit an advantage the other two academies haven't been able to replicate (though the AFA is starting to).
