Any News/Updates on Columbia transfer Jaron Faulds?
This is a kind of random question that I bring this up because I saw him hanging out during the shoot around at the game tonight, but has anyone heard any updates on the Columbia transfer Jaron Faulds? Has Beilein talked at all about how he's looked on the scout team at all? Or if anyone has idea if he will be a contributor next year?
He's a former 3* recruit, #322 nationally, and averaged 4.5 PPG and 3.2 RPG in 14 MPG as a freshman at Columbia
He’s been practicing all season long like Matthews in 2016-17.
He watched CC’s performance and decided to hit the gym for some more drills.
Is he on scholarship? I forget. For some reason I thought he had walked on.
Preferred Walk-On. Would've been an odd to give a scholarship unless his freshman numbers were eyepopping.
Funny you should ask about Faulds as there was a moment in the TV broadcast of the Nebraska game when Dakich says I thought "Castleton was the guy I saw at the end of the bench in a suit." The camera then pans over to the end of the bench and there is a tall blonde kid in street clothes sitting with the team. Looked like Foulds. The announcers didn't know what to say further so the camera and they moved on.
He's easy to pick out on the bench at home games bracketing Beilein, each in their blue shirts and ties.
I had heard earlier in the season that he was contributing well in practice, but I have no idea where he stands relative to Castleton (who he's got 15 pounds on) or Johns, or even Davis. I don't think Beilein has said a word about him publicly. That might be standard operating procedure; I don't remember if he said anything about Matthews during his sit out year either.
We definitely heard about Matthews and Duncan Robinson the year they sat out. It wasn't quite O'Korn level hype but they were mentioned frequently by Sam Webb and others.
I had nearly forgotten about this kid as not much seems to have been said about him, unless I am missing something. I definitely remember hearing about Matthews and Robinson even when they sat out for the requisite year though.
Interesting change of scenery too, this transfer.
In all fairness, the storylines are a little different. Mathews, the five star from Kentucky, and Robinson, the division three rookie of the year, draw slightly more interest in my opinion.
