All recruits being told to wait as "Silent Commits" until Signing Day
Per Steve Lorenz, it seems as though any future commits will be silent until NSD, when Harbaugh wants to make splash and have all of them reveal their commitment on that day! If true, another unique idea from harbaugh...maybe has something to do with the signing with the stars event?

I buddy of mine who has a 247 subscription texted me and told me this before it was posted here. Can't stop people from telling others information.

I didn't realize it was paywalled, popped up from a bunch of randos on my twitter feed - didn't even see his post on twitter about it.

I can safely stop checking MGoBlog every five minutes and try to get some damn work done.
(I can stop, but I probably won't.)

Once you put it out there, it's out there. For good and for all.

No, Lorenz was "stealing" the story Harbaugh wrote and trying to get people to pay for it. The OP doesn't provide anything that Lorenz was entitled to copyright. If this was an idea Lorenz had originated, then you'd have an argument.

If the Univerisity of Michigan football coach tells a recruit or a group of recruits something, and a recruit later tells a writer the same thing, and someone then pays the writer to report to him, that information is not owned by the writer and paywall reader.

So boxing matches and the such that are PPV, the results thereof can never be known beyond those that paid to see the matches? Network ESPN is essentially subscriber view, are you suggesting that nobody but cable and satellite subscribers can know the information shown and dispensed through their network?
Seriously, dude. Paywalls exist so schlubs like you will pay for information which will be in the public domain mere minutes after you read it.

You enjoy knowing the information five minutes before me and it just pisses you off that you can't lord it over me, especially since I get to know it for free.

Asymmetric information can indisputably be valuable but this isn't particularly ground breaking. He must either get off on being the know it all fan or work for a newspaper.

Ace and Brian are friends with Steve. If they felt this post shouldn't be up it would have been removed.
If you don't like paying for a devalued site then stop paying and get your info for free by waiting a bit and finding it online free of charge. If you have to know news immediately then that's on you.

value you are looking for. You know some things others don't. I could see your point if there was somthing like a free clone of the site and or info. and it was available real time. You pay to get it FIRST not to own the info.
January 23rd, 2016 at 9:32 PM ^
Believe it or not, nobody truly 'owns' knowledge. Even patent and copyrights expire. If you find that paysites aren't providing unique information that is between you and the paysite. Don't bitch about it here.
January 23rd, 2016 at 7:46 PM ^
The purpose of those sites is to get insider informatioin first, not to be the only people that will ever have it. Once a subsciber reads information he has paid for it's fair game to share it.
