AINT TOO PROUD TO BEG !!!!!

When Hoke was out and the rumors started swirling about Harbaugh coming home, I said that he was the perfect fit to resurrect the program and lead us back to our rightful place in college football because he's a winner. There was a lot of excitement when he came aboard and I think he did really well, given the comparative talent he inherited. He climbed trees, pissed folks off with satellite camps and took kids around the world to raise the profile of the program he loved.

Then he hit a slump. He still hadn't beat OSU. He couldn't pay to attract 5* players, the way other elite programs were and his magic began to fade. He had a 4 loss season or two and some of his own fan base began calling for his head. Dissatisfied with his own performance, he took a pay cut and refined his plan.

Suddenly, he rediscovers why he loved the game. Out of nowhere, he beats OSU, wins the Big Ten title and takes his team to the CFB final 4. He takes his million dollar incentive bonus and gives it to the staff in the Athletic Dept. To prove it wasn't a fluke, he repeats the outstanding coaching job by beating OSU again, winning back to back Big 10 titles and makes a second appearance to the CFB final 4.

Haters will hate because they can't figure out why they are illegally paying 5 star athletes to play and we keep beating them with 3 and 4*'s. So they make a big fuss out of buying recruits some hamburgers and they cry unfair advantage for scouting as all big time programs do, but ultimately you have to stop the play. So after self imposing a 6 game suspension, Harbaugh comes back and wins his 3rd straight Big Ten title and a National Championship. A testament to his leadership and what he's built.

This coach will go to the hall of fame as one of the best to ever do it. He's principled, leads by example, willing to help others, loves Michigan, the game and most of all the players. Call him quirky, weird passionate or whatever, he lives and breathes the game of football but then again, what legend in any discipline isn't a little weird. Call him what you want, but he's a winner and he's been ours since he was a kid. We would be insane to let him leave without offering him a lifetime contract. Moore did a hell of a job coaching in his absence Jim built the program and the culture. Every coach that has worked with him has been left better because of it. Congratulations, this man can flat out coach. So if you know the words to this Motown classic, follow along with me. In my David Ruffin of the Temptations voice.

"I KNOW YOU WANNA LEAVE ME, BUT I REFUSE TO LET YOU GO . . . "

I respect Jim's decision whatever it is.  I would also add that he has had to battle to get his players admitted and that is most certainly part of his negotiation with UM.

In his interview with SVP he talked about moving the start of Spring practice back... So he may as well be coming back. Would have been a boss move to call Warde down after the trophy presentation and sign the contract there on live TV. Tell all the 'Croots he's coming back.

fantastic post, thanks.

I want Jimmy for life, but if he leave even this week, this program is where it needs to be. He restored UM. He went from a legend to a deity. The golden boy returned home and did what almost no one thought would be possible in the modern game of football.
