Advice on hockey tix @ BG?

Submitted by BlueFish on

Just wondering if anyone has recent experience (advice) to share about scoring hockey tickets at BG.  I'm leaving from Chicago this afternoon and currently have no tickets.  I haven't been to a game at BG in probably 15 years, so I have no idea what to expect.

The safe play would be to buy a pair from Ticketmaster, but that would put me amongst the BG faithful.  Is there a Michigan section that one can hook into at this late juncture?

Are there abundant ticket peddlers around the arena before the game?

Do BG games against U-M typically sell out?

Thanks, MGoBloggers!

Bought them through the BG Ticketzone, which will bring you to ticketmaster and picked them up at will call.

Sections F,G,H = Student section. There were plenty of UM fans on the opposite side of the ice in A-D.  Or just buy a General Admission ticket in the endzone and choose who you sit by.

Maybe it was because the game was 1-0 and no one had too much to cheer about, but the BG fans weren't bad at all.

There should be tickets still available--there almost always are.  Ticketmaster will be safer, as you state.  I think there won't be a sellout tonight.  Last year's game at BG had less than 2500 fans in a 4000 seat arena.

Section H is where the Michigan fans congregate, with some overflow into Section G.  Don't count on any ticket peddlers, but you never know.

EDIT:  obviously you are getting conflicting information.  I haven't been in 3 years, but when I went, the students were in E & F.  I was sitting with Michigan fans, and the open end (with the concession stand) was on my immediate left hand and the closed general admission end was in the distance on my right.  According to my chart, that puts me in Section H.  The students were on the same (players bench) side of the ice, but in the other corner, near the closed end.

BGSU almost never sells out for hockey anymore.  Being it is so early in the season, I should think that you would have no problems buying tickets at the arena just prior to faceoff.  Last year for the February game, I sat in the section directly across the ice from the student section, which I beleive is section D.  However, if you get general admission tickets, you can sit anywhere you wish in the endzone seating section.

Thank you for the advice.

There were maybe 1,500 in attendance on Friday night.  In an arena that seats ~5,000.  Needless to say, tickets were abundant (from the ticket booth, not outside).  I purchased my tickets the day of the game (via Ticketmaster), and the seats were just inside the blue line.  No sections were full, and general admission was hardly used.  The student section is adjacent to Section F, in GA.  U-M fans weren't concentrated in any one section.

BG definitely isn't a bad place to see a game.  The fans mind their business and cheer for their team, rather than pestering opposing fans.  I'd definitely do it again.

This actually makes me wonder how BG can continue to support this program.  Perhaps attendance increases as the season wears on and the weather gets nasty.  But there were maybe 150 students, from an enrollment of 23,000.  Hopefully, this night was an aberration.
