FWIW Just a couple suggestions:
- Add some titles to introduce who is on screen.
- Sync audio needs to be leveled, very uneven from clip to clip.
- Look into a film colorist. Even a little bit of color balance between shots would make the footage pop.
- Try sprinkling in some b-roll of a full Michigan stadium when they talk about how amazing it is, it helps the viewer feel what they are describing.
I like the concept, thanks for posting!
Those two trailers are more of previews.
- You usually dont do it for the trailer. I really hesitate doing so, but in some case the person are on screen for such a small amount of time ... it is impossible to really read.
- The audio has been very basically synced and level (I will admit the 2nd trailer could have been done better). The movie is not done being edited. You usually pay someone to clean and edit when you are done doing the editing so you don't increase the cost of doing so.
- The color grading was extremely basic, because again the film is not done yet and I have not send the footage for that step. Because, well same than previously.
- That would be great to have B-rolls - But those comes with rights and those rights come with cost. Such B-roll average $200 to 300 a seconde. So I won't use the little money I have to pay for the trailers.
Thank you for the feedback, all of it is pretty obvious, I could have invested more to have higher quality trailer... But so far, I have been working pretty much alone and saved every penny I could.
(Well, I can not "spare no expense" - Especially after 2020 catastrophic year were I lost 88% of my income).
To give an idea, so far all the movie have been done from my personal money (I have spend around $5K ~6k). And I am not even including the 2 years of works I have invested (in research and preparation and now editing).
The final movie should have a 90min running time about - Such project have an average cost in the $150~300K. I am trying to make it happen with 10% of that amount.
Those preview is a teaser to see and gage the interest for my project.
If you want to have a more detailed idea of the overall cost:

And all your comments are fair.
I actually appreciate those feedback deeply.
If the project was of no interest, or not done correctly you would not even take the time for it.
Noted. Noted. Noted!
Thank you.
looks fantastic. $44 on the way!

Thank you Matty - I send you a personal thank you note.
I would capitalize on the off season as much as you can... watching this makes me want to be at the stadium. I can hear "ladies and gentlemen... preeeseenting..." right now. If our season goes into the shitter? Ehhhh maybe it will be harder to drum up interest :)
When I first saw this trailer, I had no idea what the documentary was about, other than it has something to do with Michigan Wolverines football.
I wondered about the significance of “44 yards” and the significance of “the tunnel”. Is 44 yards the distance between the point where players come out of the tunnel to where they touch the banner before the game? Is "the tunnel" 44 yards long?
Why 44? I knew that the number 44 represents something important for Syracuse football because of the “Legend of #44" for the famous Syracuse running backs who wore that number (Jim Brown, Ernie Davis and Floyd Little), but I couldn’t think of any reason why the number 44 would be significant for Michigan football.
Then a little internet research led me to the story about Phil Brabbs' last-second field goal that enabled Michigan to beat Washington 31-29 in the opening game of the season on August 31, 2002 at Michigan Stadium. LINK So, THAT'S what this documentary is about.

Eh, it was mentioned that Brabbs was involved, so it seemed pretty obvious to me. Might help that I was at that game, and that kick was one of the coolest things I've seen in person. Man, the stadium was rockin after he hit that..

Yes, Phil is involved.
I have the chance to work (before the pandemic) regularly for him... And it is the way he never talked about that kick but more about his brother (When he recall his time at Michigan) who really start the whole project.
I rapidly convinced Ron Bellamy and then it snowball ... With more than a dozen player from that season involved.

Hahaha - Yes.
The trailer are a little unfinished I guess. The "tunnel" / "Winged Helmet" is a name of a sequence inside the documentary.
The future trailer should be less nebulous and more clear as they will be more general.
The documentary look at the season 2002 and divers event that happened, including the 44 Yards kick.
The project started with that kick actually, and talking to all the players I discovered that they all talked about how "The Team came together" to win that game. The same after Zia's accident (same season vs PSU).
The whole project is looking at how Coach Carr (by the way he cared) but also the history of the program, led those guys that were really different to just create a deep bond that goes beyond the Football.
I choose the 2002 season because it seats in between the 99 & 00 and the 03 & 04 seasons.
I did not wanted to talk about "titles" (maybe a future project) but more about the human nature.

Music bed seems oddly inappropriate, IMHO.
