247 releases 2022 Recruiting Rankings

Kids born in 2004......

The only guy from MI who has a profile is William Johnson, a 5 star CB who visited recently. He’s from Grosse Pointe South out of the Macomb Area Conference, a region that has produced bubkes as far as Power 5 talent in the 21st century until recently. We have a 4 star commit in Giovanni El-Hadi in 2021 (Sterling Heights Stevenson). Interesting seeing trends change.

Before you say it’s too early, Michigan has offered 39 2022 prospects.

Johnson’s father is a UM football alum if I remember correctly from a (free) note on 247 yesterday - so outlook should be pretty good to land him.

If we start signing a bunch of 5* recruits, there are going to be a bunch of contributors with less to bitch about.   We aren't going to have much room to pick up 3* flyers late in the recruiting cycle.

Of the kids we've offered Jaeden Gould from Bergen Catholic in NJ would be a huge get at a position of need. Same school as Jordan Morant and his coach his Anthony Campanile's brother for the unaware.

A bunch of St. Francis kids on the offer list as well, so the Biff pipeline looks to be one that will continue.

I just got off the phone with Maizen and he was in a panic in regards to our 2022 recruiting class.  He said that our program was falling off a cliff as we are currently tied for last in all of CFB for 2022 team recruiting rankings.

Even Iowa is ahead of us.

I know 247 is just chasing the money, but of what value is a ranking of guys just going into their sophomore years? Seems like this is likely to change considerably

Jay Harbaugh stated that he (or someone in staff) will be scouting Omari Embree (CB/RB) of Warren Woods Tower. Embree is the brother of current Michigan Wrestler Jelani Embree. Omari is a defending state championship wrestler.

SMH, These early rankings help feed the Football Camp industry more then predict real talent,  These kids haven't developed yet.  In a decade we are going to see 6th graders ranked out of pop warner if someone can make a buck from it.
