2008 Michigan vs. Ohio State International

First post on the board, and farily new reader.  Love the site. 

 

Anyway, I just have a quick question for those that may know more about this than me concerning viewing the Michigan/Ohio State game internationally this year.  

I know Brian had commented on this a bit in a MailBag a few weeks ago, and one of the comments, specifically about ESPN GamePlan concerned me a bit.  I currently live in Japan and for the past several years have subscribed to ESPN GamePlan to get my live college football fix.  They never had that many UMich games on, but at least for us international subscribers they always had the Mich/OSU game...

HOWEVER, this year with the creation of the Big Ten network I am concerned as to whether I am going to be able to get that game at all this year while abroad.  It's kind of a big deal as I am nuts about Mich football, and throw a huge party at my house for other expats every year to watch the game.  

Anyway, if anyone has any info as to whether this game will be live, I would much appreciate it.  I have scoured the web for anything resembling a week-by-week schedule for ESPN GamePlan International (NOT ESPN.360), but to no avail.  

As for other options, I have a mac so SopCast is out of the question (I know, it is possible, but it is such a pain in the ass and is extremely unstable).  I have a SlingBox set up in the US, but the connection is rather iffy.  I don't live near Tokyo or any other of the big cities so foreign sports bars are out of the question (as if they'd show it anyway..) If anyone knows anything else, please let me know

I don't know much about ESPN GamePlan international, but i do know that the UM/OSU game will have national coverage on ABC for the forseeable future.  So there will be no changes due to the Big Ten Network. 

 

Of course, it's entirely possible ESPN changed things so they can find a way to charge you more money, but that has nothing to do with the BTN...

thanks for the info... wasn't quite sure about the broadcasting situation (I guess I could have looked it up...), but I'm a bit more relieved knowing that its going to air on ABC now.  Praying to god I get that game, or my Japanese neighbors are going to be in for quite a surpirse at 2 am when I am screaming like a mad hen at my computer in profane english.
