#17 Men's Lacrosse vs. Cleveland State

Michigan men's lacrosse (4-0) hosts Cleveland State today in what is their last early season tuneup game before the schedule gets much tougher in the next few weeks.  The game is already underway at the State Street facility and M is up 7-2 in the 2nd quarter.

The story of Michigan's young season thus far has been the offensive explosion from the Wolverines in which they've scored 22, 21, 20 and 23 goals in their first four games.  They're powered by attackman John Zawada who is currently leading the country in points with 37. That is 10 points clear of the player with the sceond-most points, Dyson Williams from Duke; Michigan's Michael Boehm is third with 24.

They should be able to keep it going today and hopefully they can spring upsets vs. Delaware and Notre Dame before conference play starts in a few weeks. Schedule starts getting tougher when Michigan travels to Marquette Tuesday afternoon (which will be streamed on YOUTUBE!).  GO BLUE!!

Michigan wins fairly easily 13-5. I must have jinxed Zawada because he only had 2G, 1A and Michigan was well off its season average!  The next few games: Marq, Delaware, Harvard and ND could be interesting matchups for this team. But I think...they're all winnable(?).

In other news, Maryland beat Princeton and Penn State beat #6 Yale and Rutgers is in a dogfight with Loyola so the conference could be just as strong as it usually is. And that means M will have it's work cut out for them and they'll need to rack up as many OOC wins as possible.

Watched this game.  We did not shoot well, but CSU packed it in and it looked like they abandoned the ride and just dropped into the hole on a number of occasions.  They really slowed down the transition game and forced Michigan to score 6v6, which definitely slowed us down.  Will be interested to see if more teams try this and how we respond.
