The nation's longest win streak got started in the finale of the 2018 season when Maggie Kane scored a buzzer-beater goal to upset #16 Penn State, giving Michigan its first-ever win over a ranked opponent.

Since that game, Michigan has beaten 4 straight ranked opponents and looked to claim a 5th win over a ranked team this season.

Penn State went up 2-1 in the early minutes of the game but Michigan went on a 6-0 run to end the first half and led 7-2, dominating the game. Shots at halftime were in Michigan's favor 22-9 and shots on goal 17-9. Adriana Pendino had 2 first half goals.

The second half was a much different story as Penn State roared back, going on a 6-2 run to cut the game to a one goal Michigan lead at 9-8 with an eternity left in the game. Alli Kothari replaced Mira Shane in the cage and it made a difference. Shane is our starter but is spelled when an opponent has success against her.

The Wolverines did not surrender the lead as Caitlin Muir ended the PSU run with a goal to make it 10-8. Adriana Pendino followed about 2 minutes later to give herself a hat trick and push it to an 11-8 lead. PSU got one back with 3:32 left in the ballgame but last year's hero Maggie Kane put it away with 1:55 left in the game.

Michigan held on for a 12-9 win over #19 Penn State.

Caitlin Muir was Michigan's leading scorer with 5 points (2g 3a) with Adriana Pendino being the leading goal scorer with her hat trick. Final shots were 34-27 Michigan, shots on goal 26-22 Michigan, draw control 13-10 PSU.

Michigan wins their 6th straight against a ranked opponent, extends the nation's longest win streak to 11, wins their 3rd straight B1G opener, beats Penn State for the second consecutive time and earns the first double-digit win season in program history.

Michigan is now an amazing 10-0 (1-0 B1G).

Second year head coach Hannah Nielsen is just 3 wins away from tying the all-time wins record at Michigan of 20 by ex-coach Jennifer Ulehla who 20 games in 4 seasons.

Michigan will next travel to Ohio State on Thursday night, looking for their 3rd straight win over the Buckeyes. That game will be at 7pm on BTN.
