Michigan moved into the Top-10 for the first time in program history on Monday. Of course, you've been reading the sentence "for the first time in program history" all season.

Michigan is riding the nation's longest win streak and is one of four undefeated teams left along with women's lacrosse royalty such as #1 Boston College, #2 Maryland as well as Notre Dame who is decent.

Michigan traveled to down to the hole in Columbus and took on Ohio State. Michigan was riding a two game win streak in the series that started when former head coach Jennifer Ulehla got the lone B1G win of her career when Michigan beat OSU in OT at their football stadium.

Last year in her first season, coach Hannah Nielsen started off her career right with a 9-7 win over the Buckeyes for the first B1G home win in program history.

OSU normally has both of their lacrosse teams play in the 99.9% empty horseshoe but for some reason their biggest game of the season was moved to Owens Memorial Stadium. A soccer/track stadium that has a grass field, something that lacrosse teams don't typically play on. Factor in that the weather forecast was rainy yesterday and it seems they wanted to get every bit of help possible. I just find it odd that they moved a game against the team they care most about to their old stadium that just happens to have a grass field. They even brought their band.

Michigan got out to a 2-1 lead with goals by Chandler Kirby and Molly Garrett, but OSU scored the next 3 goals to take a 4-2 lead. That's when coach Nielsen called a much-needed timeout.

Michigan then went on to dominate the draw control and score 5 goals in the next 5 minutes to regain the lead, 7-4. OSU double teamed Michigan's leading goal scorer Adriana Pendino all game long but she finally got her first goal at 6:08 during that run. Most of Michigan's first half goals came on free position shots.

OSU then called a timeout and went on a 3 goal run to tie it just before halftime, 7-7. But before the half ended, Maggie Kane scored with 14 seconds left to give Michigan an 8-7 lead.

Halftime adjustments were made and that's when Pendino took the game over.

OSU scored first to tie it again at 8-8, but that would be the last time they were close to leading as Maggie Kane and Adriana Pendino put Michigan up 10-8 with back-to-back goals.

An OSU goal cut it to 10-9 but two more goals by Pendino to secure her 6th hat trick of the season and then a tally by Nadine Stewart put the game out of reach at 13-9 with just 6 minutes left. I say out of reach because Michigan was DOMINATING possession and the draw control all night long.

OSU could only muster one more goal but they couldn't gain possession on the ensuing draw and Michigan buried the Buckeyes with a Caitlin Muir goal with 2 minutes remaning. Adriana Pendino added an empty netter for good measure with 48 seconds left to finish the job.

#10 Michigan takes down Ohio State for the 3rd straight season, 15-10. Michigan now has a winning record in Columbus (2-1), broke previous team rivalry records for goals and margin of victory.

Michigan is now 11-0 (2-0 B1G) and extends the nation's longest winning streak to 12 games dating back to the end of 2018.

Michigan will return to U-M Lacrosse Stadium for a pair of games next week, the first being on Monday at 5pm against Niagara (3-5, 0-0 MAAC).

I know football is the big kicker, but Michigan Athletics as a whole seems to win more than its fair share against OSU over the course of the year. Seem to own them in many regards.

Unfortunately one sport takes all the headlines, but fuck that. The ladies deserve their recognition. Well done, ladies. Any win over OSU in any sport is a great win.
