We need this guy!!

Mark Dantonio says go Bucks & alot of you are upset. WHY??! I *ucking love it. This guy is the gold standard for Spartans. We need him. I cannot stand the guy. First off he has made weird and unfinished responses as well as hate filled jabs at us since he was hired at MSU. Then he makes winning the game in E.L. last year the players national championship instead of winning football games overall. And last but not least he decides to tell the media that hes rooting for those classless bums down in Columbus. All I gotta say is HELL FUCKING YES. We need this guy. For one it gives a sense of urgency to this non-existent rivalry. And it also exposes everything thats wrong with Michigan State football. When a head football coach says that hes rooting for the Bucks when it could possibly help his team thats just straight up nonsense. Especially if that team is from the Michigan and the other team is in OHIO. You better believe it that if a Big 10 title and a Rose Bowl trip came down to The Bucks and State in the last game of the year i'm going to root for MSU. Not that MSU is going to beat Penn State or anything remotely close to that. 2 years ago I went to Columbus to watch the game. We were both undefeated and enjoying something that we had never experienced in our rivalry. #1 & #2. The day was a perfect football day and as I walked to the stadium and took it all in I felt an excitement that was very rare and couldn't wait for the game. As I walked closer to the stadium out of nowhere pops up MSU fans. And they tried everything they could play the day spoiler. I blew them off and kept walking only to have 3 more pop up and do the same almost turning into a fight. I thought to myself, wow, is this really how bad the fan culture has become for the young kids at MSU? A fan base who has kids that are willing to drive 4 hours to Columbus just to antagonize UM fans while they are getting waxed as we spoke by Penn State?? So yeah, I have lost interest in MSU. Its not a rivalry. Its a game that we lose once every 5-6-7 or so years. Hell if it wasn't for Shot Clock Bob we were damn close to hittin the 10 year mark. So what they beat us this year. I didn't like it. I hated it, but they almost lost a game to the worst Michigan team uh...ever in modern history?? ... So in comes Dantonio and his crybaby, Michigan Wolverine hating antics and big mouth #### talk. Cool i'm with it. Because now when we go back to winning the next 5 or 6 outta 7 I am going to relish and celebrate with renewed vigor every single time we beat them.

furthers the little brother stereotype. I mean, every Michigan fan already things State fans would rather see Michigan lose than State win. I said it in a joking way too. Maybe it's true though!? I mean, if your coach would rather see Michigan lose a game that is the difference between 4-8 and 3-9 (their is no difference) than see his own team make the ROSE BOWL!!!...there is something seriously wrong with that. THAT IS WHY WE CALL YOU LITTLE BROTHER. BECAUSE YOU'D RATHER SEE US LOSE THAN TO ACTUALLY GO TO THE ROSE BOWL YOURSELF. F'ing idiots.

word. During the UM/MSU game they brought up a quote from Ringer I believe saying that beating Michigan was "more important than any championship." That is why they will always be State. I'm sure there are some great analogies for that.

he likely would've been one of the top candidates for the job here if lloyd had retired a year earlier. now if lloyd had retired after 2004 we could've gotten mr. meyer down in florida and been in better position to have a smooth transition. as it is, we got RR who's every bit the coach that meyer is (if not better) this has been a bad season no doubt but it's not the first time he's gone through it. he can get us to where we wanna be and he will.

I like this point of view, man. One important thing to keep in mind. He's trying to drag us down into the muck, too... trying to get those Wolverines of weak will to hate MSU more than they love U-M and thus become no better than your average Buckeye or Spartan. A most vengeful and bitter deceiver, this cruel agent of spite! Can he truly create nothing constructive out of the power of his own will? Has he really resigned himself to only measuring his own success by our (occasional) failure? Has he nothing to offer this great enterprise but vociferous vituperation? Yes! For he is the essence of the Spartan!!

This is actually a valid point. Now I have a mixture of mostly hate and bewilderment with a dash of pity mixed in since this is simply further proof that he (and the rest of the MSU fan base) suffer from significant inferiority complexes. I can't wait until I see some of my friends who (sadly) went to MSU, just to see what they can possibly say. There aren't too many ways to defend Dantonio. He's obviously just catering to the fans who hate Michigan so much they can't see the potential benefit for themselves with a Michigan win. Win or lose, it's still the Rose Bowl at the end of the day. And for the record, I wouldn't need to think twice about rooting for MSU in a bowl game. If not because we share (sort of...) the state of Michigan, at least for Big Ten. OSU is the only Big Ten team I'll never root for.

Dantonio's press conference on the msu website... and he doesn't say "Go Bucks"?? They ask him about it and all he says is he'll focus on what he can control... and that was the end of it. Unless this didn't happen during his normal press conference? and Fletcher-- so you're saying that if OSU winning would help UM you wouldn't do it?

I guess that would be hypocritical of me to say that I wouldn't root for them even if it helped us. I don't know. I haven't been put into that situation, thankfully. Though I think it's different for a fan than a coach, but maybe not. I have rooted against them in the NC game - that's more what I meant. Even though it sucks for the Big Ten's image, I can't willingly hope they win - won't be a problem this year, thankfully. I think it's just more telling of the rivalry in general between us and MSU when I would root for Michigan State out of conference any game, but it isn't the same in return.
