WTKA Roundtable 6/1/2023: Page 128
Things Discussed:
- HAIL TO THE VICTORS 2023: The Michigan preview with the most mentions of 45-23.
- World's oldest 24-year-old Alex Drain watches Braylonfest.
- Football preview: All the positions are great until we get to 2nd cornerback.
- Kicker: James Turner would be the #2 Michigan kicker since 2003.
- Realignment: What's driving it is TV contracts. Big 12 in best shape to be Conf3 because they have an ESPN contract.
- Streaming: It's not going to stay how it is now. The battle is the same it's always been, where they try to make you pay for as much of what you don't watch as possible and you try to streamline as much as possible.
- Future? There's more money to be made if you're not paying half of it to Fox.
- Basketball: Can they salvage the offseason now? Depends on how they do with a portal G and Big.

That's not a basketball player; it's the name of a halfling bard in my latest D&D campaign.
I can't read all the play diagrams. What's the caption for the jump pass?
It's only the touchdowns.

Alex Cook?
Brian's love child?
I love watching B12 and P12 football - and I can't quite wrap my head around the B12 being more valuable. When I think of name-brand schools outside of the B10/SEC/Florida, and Clemson...I guess I just don't get why Utah would want to be with TCU and K-St more than Stanford and Washington. If Washington and Oregon go it's one thing, but if they stay it sounds like a better deal to associate with them. The Big 12 has a strong 'left behind" vibe to me - the castoffs of the old Big 8, SWC, and Big East. Plus BYU. Maybe I'm too old. Maybe I don't watch enough basketball. I'm sure there's a lot else the 4 corner schools are weighing into this decision. But the Pac12's TV contract woes sorta confuse me - is this really a worse conference than the Big 12? On the field, or on TV sets, when Oregon and Washington are still in it?
Talk about Gers being dead weight because they didn't have any post-season appearances this year. However, Nebraska hasn't had a post-season appearance in the big 3 sports (football, basketball or baseball) in the last 2 YEARS!!!! Get rid of Nebraska too.
This was mostly depressing in that I didn't realize I would be missing a bunch of games this year with "just" YouTube TV. I am unsure how to proceed, because I'm not signing up for another 3 streaming services.
Wouldn't an antenna and getting CBS, NBC, FOX over the air bridge a lot of the gap?
The path forward has been made clear to me. Buckle your boots and grab your cutlass if you'd like to join me matey, I'm setting sail for the high seas
Is Brian just a figurehead at MGoBlog now? He seems so disconnected on the Roundtable segments and rarely publishes any columns for the board.
Tangential aside: Halflings suck, Bards suck and Halfling Bards are an abomination before the Lord.
/D&D nerd rant
To be fair to Brian, not much to talk about right now in terms of M athletics, outside of the topics that have been beaten to death already..ie Football could be better than last year, outside of the 2nd corner spot, Basketball is a tire fire with not much light at end of tunnel...
Basketball is going to be so so so brutal next year. Gross
